Ordered the “Every time it Rains” drink. The name is catchy and I can relate. The drink was definitely strong, it reminded me of strong coffee. I asked the bartender and he said it was the Haitian rum that gave it that taste. The overall setup is cool and lowkey. Reservations are strongly suggested because it’s a small spot. This place is cool to go on a date, or to catch up with friends. I would give this place another chance, and just try another drink.
I've been to many mixology and speakeasy spots in Chicago, and the Alderman is up there with the best of them. Sitting at the bar was a fun drinking experience. Roger was cool to interact with and shared some different shots of liquors that are hard to find. I will definitely be back soon.
The cocktails were absolutely delicious, and we were served a small amuse bouche cocktail as well that was also delicious. Would have loved a second cocktail, but after receiving our first round of drinks the bartender ignored us for the remaining hour we were at the establishment. We had to flag down another employee to finally pay our tab. There were, maximum, 12 other people in the bar. It was the strangest thing.
