Not the bar I remember. Children screaming at a bar kinda ruins it for me. The service, beer variety and desert were awesome. I ordered the High Mile Ice Cream Pie and I got this.

The Vegan Birria Tacos (hibiscus flowers, spicy dipping sauce, vegan cheese, cilantro, onion, elote salad) are excellent. There were some very interesting flavors, the tacos have amazing variances in texture and a variety of flavors in a bite sweet, sour, tangy and just a little bit of heat. Great rotating draft beer options. The decor is very interesting with a huge dragon artwork on the ceiling in the bar area. I can wait to come back.

EDIT - need to edit my 7 year old review. New owners ruined this place. Burgers are painfully mediocre now and not even cooked to temp. Service was super slow.. couldn't even get a drink order in after our initial order. Been there twice since the owner changes a couple years ago and both experiences have been poor. Safe to say, I won't be giving it another chance.

Original Review:
Forget Kuma's. Best burger in the city (ok, maybe tied with Owen & Engine). Burger is cooked perfectly (ask for it rare, and you will get it rare, unlike Kuma's). Fries were seasoned perfectly. One of the best beer selections around, and their prices are incredible. Can't go wrong at Bad Apple. Go visit all the surrounding breweries and them come here to eat. Service was VERY accommodating for a large group which had to split the check a million ways.

Awesome burgers! Small menu, but yet a wide variety of quite different choices... They keep a jar of water at each table which is nice, no waiting for refills. The staff is extremely nice and checks on you frequently and will explain the menu to you no problem. I ordered the Even cowgirls get the blues burger. It was cooked perfectly on point medium just how l like, great seasoning, crispy bacon, saluted onion jam, arugula, blue cheese sauce and a fresh soft brioche bun. Definitely prefer it over Kumas corner but not the best either. Definitely do not get the macaroni side salad that was the most bland and disgusting thing I've ever eaten, stick to the fries! Other then that 100% recommend!

I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon. The bar wasn’t crowded, so we sat at the bar expecting a relaxed experience. Unfortunately, the two female bartenders had noticeably bad attitudes toward us the entire time despite us being polite and friendly. Each time we ordered a round of beers, they acted visibly annoyed, rolling their eyes and making it seem like serving us was an inconvenience.

After our second round, they started ignoring us completely. They wouldn’t come to our end of the bar, and even when we stood up and waved to get their attention, they pretended not to notice. We eventually gave up and left after realizing we’d go nearly an hour without being able to order another drink. When we closed our tabs, one of the bartenders threw the receipts down in front of us with clear attitude again.

It was honestly one of the most uncomfortable bar experiences I’ve had. My friends and I spent most of the afternoon feeling like we’d somehow done something wrong just for being there.

The one bright spot was a gentleman who seemed to be a manager or owner, he was extremely kind and friendly, and I appreciated his welcoming demeanor. Unfortunately, the service from the bartenders overshadowed what could have been a great visit.

October in Chicago doesn’t usually invite you to sit outside, but this time the weather was perfect—and so was the meal. We tried two incredible burgers: *The Figs Is In* with porter-soaked fig & bacon relish, creamy goat cheese, and smoked onion, and the *Southern Dandy* with grilled Spanish sweet onion, pepper jack, house-cured molasses bacon, and their signature sweet & spicy dandy sauce. Both were rich in flavor, beautifully balanced, and absolutely memorable. The fries deserve a mention too—especially with their in-house ranch and ketchup, which taste like they were made with real care.

The service tied it all together: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Eating outdoors on a golden October day, with flavors this bold and original, felt like the perfect snapshot of Chicago at its best.

The cocktails were really good, and I like their unique takes on some classics like the Bad Apple Old Fashioned.

It had a cozy atmosphere. There were classic, crowd-pleasing music hits playing softly all evening. It’s definitely a good place to have a conversation or watch sports, too

The kitchen was busy, but we were still served attentively and quickly.

My friend got the Thunderdome burger (pictured). I got a simple house burger that I already have to come back for. It was so good, I ate it too quickly for a picture.

I ordered the salmon yet to be delivered, and it was overly fatty, and the rounds of bread lit accompany. It were incredibly soggy with zero taste. Buyer beware for any kind of delivery at home, which is too bad because it's a lovely space.

The burger was good, and they offer plenty of alternatives. However, the service had major organizational issues, and this was with only three tables occupied.
The place doesn’t really have a wow atmosphere, just a pub, although the outdoor area can be enjoyable on a pleasant night.
I don’t think I’d come back.

Ordered the vegan birria tacos with no cheese to go and they were so good!
The tacos were how quesabirria tacos would be. I would have liked more filling and onion and cilantro but they still were delicious as is. The consume was a bit on a thicker side and not so spicy but definitely flavorful.
I didn't care for the corn side it was okay.
Definitely would come back and order them again!
