Thinking only about the delicious non-ubiquitous pastries which are missed. Pricey but different enough to be worth it. Supply and demand. The demand is there but the supply has been shut off. Another photo is added.

Macau Snacks and Dinner! I just realized it's temporarily closed, likely due to the pandemic. I hope it comes back soon, as it's one of Chicago's best and definitely my favourite! There is an ultra cute and hip bakery with inventive sweets, including Guava and Cheese Bun, Taro Morning Bun, and Portuguese Egg Tart, and what I remember to be a hibiscus-like drink.Next door, there's the restaurant. We had conservas (sardines to wrap in nori), bread with dip (can't remember what was in it), fried rice, and the most amazing chilli prawns in this spiced butter sauce!Bakeries and restaurants in Vancouver need to capitalize on guava!!! Come on!Follow me @vinaeatsandtreats on Instagram for more honest restaurant and baking recipe reviews!

A preferred spot for delicious asian food. Really nothing but good experiences here. The place has a nice feel to it. Food is like a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.

Asian food, quality stuff. Nice place to meet and catch up with family. Definitely worth going back to. The bill was fair for the quality of the food.

Our kid was nice enough to bring down a box of goodies from here when she came to visit. We love the Portuguese Egg Tarts the best. Wife and I agreed that we haven't tasted anything like it since we were in Macau years ago. Suffice to say, our kid is now only allowed to step through the doorway of her childhood home if she has a box of egg tarts from Fat Rice in hand.

We had dinner here on a cold windy night, but the food took us back to our summer trip to Macau (without the heat and humidity!). We had looked forward to eating here for a while, and so glad to have dinner here on this visit to Chicago. We were seated at a long communal table with strangers, but that was okay. Seated away from door, which was great because cold air near the doorway. Staff was friendly, and clarified items on the menu. We LOVED our shared choices. We started with the linguica, the char sui, and the sardinhas furosos. Wow! We then shared the chili prawns, large beautiful, just the right amount of heat. Then we shared the uttapam. We followed it up with the famous Fat Rice. What a party in a bowl!! We thoroughly enjoyed everything, but the prawns and the fat rice were the favorite. We had nice Portuguese red wine. We finished with coffee and the Eton Mess. A great time and a unique food experience. Definitely will return to order the prawns and the fat rice again, as well as other items that we would like to try.

I'm always amazed by how much I love this place! Fat Rice in general is an incredible restaurant and their bakery does not fail to impress. I came with a large grouup of friends and we didn't realize we came near closing and ended up sitting and chatting for an hour past closing but they didn't tell us to leave until we had stayed well past our welcome. We even got some free guava buns! I'll def be coming back. I suggest the Ceylon snickerdoodle and rice crisp if you like something sweet and savory. For something more sweet I'd get the guava bun, but you honestly can't go wrong with anything they have.

Tasty egg tarts. I haven't had many Portuguese style egg tarts, but I'm in love with these. The egg custard inside a flakey pastry, almost like a buttery croissant.

We are always looking for a unique brunch experience. Many friends suggested that we needed to try Fat RIce. Beginning to end, Fat Rice was an adventure. After settling in with a Mango Mimosa, we tried the pork and Ginger Dumplings with X.O. Sauce. Nice and spicy with that umami goodness. Next we enjoyed the Spicy Prawns and Minchi Mosca. The Prawns are one of those decadent dishes that you savor till the end. Wow! The minchi was that beautiful end to our brunch with the soft-cooked egg yolk rounding out the ground meat and spices. Lastly, service was excellent. Laura, one of the bartenders, guided us through the menu as well as our meal. Brunch does get a little expensive, but it is memorable!

The food here was excellent. I have been to Macau and it is great to find a place in Chicago that serves this style of cuisine. I had a few problems with the restaurant. The hostess had a bit of an attitude, the noise level was way to loud. I couldnt hear my wife across the table. Also the seating is community style so one long table shared with other guests. But the biggest problem is the door to the restaurant. Every time a guest enters the cold air comes blowing in and is very uncomfortable. The space is an old bar (I assume as most of these new restaurants in logan square are) making the design a problem. This restaurant should be in another larger space , but I guess if they did that it would lose its hipster image. Overall the service was excellent, the waitstaff was great and fast. And the food was top notch. Besides those few small issues I would recommend it. But please go during the summer or spring. And make a reservation as well.

My first time in - staff kind, lovely environment, but disappointed because my cookie was raw in the middle (palm sugar with dark chocolate, ginger, and almonds)...coming from such a well-regarded company this was a real bummer. great flavor though

Food: 5 Drinks: 4 Service: 5 A bakery by day, a restaurant by night. They offer goods to eat and plenty of options to drink and a decent price. The creativity here is flawless. We love these savory-sweet goods. Each item was so unique in flavor! We tried the Portuguese Egg Tart with its silky sweet custard, Chicago style hot dog bun, and milk dinosaur drink. Our favorite was the Everything Bun, so much flavor and texture found in every bite. It will be something we won't forget. And I can't wait to try more. There are a few tables available for seating, great place to catch up, do work, and just all around positive vibes. Everyone was super friendly! Street pay to park (maybe you can find some free parking) Will I come back? YES (just wish it was closer to where I lived)

Desserts, Pastries and Coffee in a warm, welcoming setting in Logan Square. The staff here is cheerful and amicable and make the experience truly wonderful.
