This place is a perfect little neighborhood bar. it’s small, cozy, and cool. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the cocktails were; they were very balanced and had great flavor. I didn’t feel like people were that rude to non regulars like other people were suggesting, I heard one comment from a patron, but the bartenders were kind, just very busy. I’ll be stopping in whenever I’m visiting my friends in Chicago.
The most divey dive bar I’ve ever been to. You get a real meaty slice of genuine Chicago people when you walk in here. The air is thick with the stench of wet beer farts, but nobody coming here seems to care. Pretty sure the bathroom is used exclusively for snorting powders and nothing else. Fantastic experience 10/10.
The place is a hidden gem, "sports bar" sure; it's a neighborhood staple that beat Covid in terms of business. A lot of bars and restaurants closed down during the pandemic, there's a reason the Barrel is still around. Amazing staff, great respect to classic cocktails plus house originals, and an environment that's inviting and welcoming to all!
