1st off I would say Capital Grille is a great restaurant as I dine at locations across the country regularly. The Chicago location is not well managed unfortunately. If you are booking a reservation here the time means nothing as the overbook the capacity of the restaurant. My family and I had a 7 pm reservation on Thanksgiving and we sat in a crowded lobby w others for nearly an hour. After much complaining or it would have been longer. Do not go here on holidays or busy nights. This happened to me here two years ago same thing. The practice of this location is to overbook to maximize revenue then your held hostage because on a busy night you are already at there restaurant w a reservation where the time means nothing to the staff and the management. When I asked for the manager when the staff said it would be an hour or so his response was it isn't 7 yet. It was 6:59 pm not 7 pm so technically he was right by 30 seconds or so. i guess in his mind that was an appropriate answer. IThis review is a warning to others who don't want to stand in a overly crowded entry for an hour w a reservation and listen to them scream names for an hour. Steer clear on any weekends or holidays as this is my 2nd experience here w the idea the exact same experience which tells you it's being done purposely. They will also badger you with calls to confirm your reservation but don't think to call when they are an hour or in my case a couple years ago more than an hour behind. It would have been longer if i didn't complain and have a lot of Dining history at Capital Grille.

It was Thanksgiving, so the restaurant was packed. However, the hostesses were efficient, the food was amazing, and the service was phenomenal. Chicagoans spend so much time trying new restaurants that we forget we have tried-and-true winners like The Capital Grille, which never disappoints. I have found my go-to spot for business meetings and social meals.

Always a great experience at CG, never disappointed. A wonderful surprise to be seated in a lovely private cove- spending time with dear friends who we do not see often now that we live in Minneapolis. It allowed special conversation and Walter took impeccable care of everything. Thank You

The Steak was good, BUT we ordered medium rare - porterhouse came out over done - solid medium to.med well- ribeye was better, closer to medium rare - tuna starter was ok - had to send back the calamari - it was literally cold ? Which then kind of highlighted that none of this was freshly cooked ? The mozzarella thing seemed like it was a premade frozen item from Costco... sides were all lukewarm... it took more than half an hour to get our first cocktail, but service was fine despite that, it was a Monday and we were in a bar booth so the bartender was the waitstaff.... Not the capital grill I remember....

I was quite impressed when I had dinner here. The seafood pasta I had was flavorful and came in generous servings. The lasagna, which was rich in flavor and expertly constructed, was what my partner ordered. There were some excellent wine selections on the list that went well with our meals. Everything arrived promptly, and the service was pleasant. A great place for a leisurely, good supper - we will most certainly return!

The restaurant had wonderful service and food! We did not go home hungry or disappointed. Our servers were AMAZING! Special shout out to Rebecca, for her above and beyond service! Rebecca also has wonderful picture skills! Along with Jose for his wonderful service. We celebrated our anniversary and they made sure it was special.

Awww.... We've been to Capital Grille before; this time was for our anniversary. We received such lovely service...from the confetti on the table to complementary champagne and even a complementary dessert! The food was great, the server was very attentive, and we loved every minute of it.

My step daughter and I visited Chicago this past weekend and we went and had a nice dinner at The Capital Grille. Paul was our server and I have to say when he went above and beyond....he really went above and beyond. He was amazing overall. He made sure we had everything we needed, he checked up on us to make sure our food was done correctly, and overall just very professional and friendly service. As a Darden employee as well, I really appreciated the service and atmosphere and prompt service that we received, even before I stated I was a Darden employee. I will definitely be revisiting The Capital Grille again the next time I am in Chicago!

Food was great. Good preseatation, taste and portion. However, you need to prepare your stomach room for the course menu. I originally plan to have soup and cheese cake but need to add main dish so that it was too full for me.

While we confirmed a round table in the dining room, when we arrived we were escorted to a room in the back and told that due to being so busy, they were moving us to a private room. We were looking forward to the vibe of a Chicago steakhouse and as a VIP Cap Grille customer in Philly and King of Prussia, I was disappointed that despite confirming our reservation just hours before, that this occurred. Our server was great, but as far isolated as the room was, between visits from him, there was no way to get service. I will opt in the future for another Chicago steakhouse in the future, as there was no real reason to patronize TCG as regular customers. It was a disappointing experience, despite the good food and service.
