The Gage has for years been my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I find myself here every time I'm in town, just as I found myself here every few weeks when I lived in Chicago fifteen years ago. It was excellent then, and thankfully, nothing has changed. The Gage delivers in every respect, from the outstanding food at all times of the day to the stellar drink menu full of creative and classic selections; from the atmosphere--which between bar and multiple dining spaces always offers the vibe you're looking for--to the amazing staff. Special shout-out to Olivia, a friendly and skilled server, whose wealth of local knowledge is a secret weapon for the restaurant. She will set you up with the perfect next-stop spot for cocktails or night-life -- that is if you're even able to tear yourself away from another drink at the Gage. This is a Chicago institution in my book, and it never disappoints.

The host Sarah is the very best. She was so warm and welcoming, and my great experience started with her at the door. The food was great, good atmosphere. Would recommend!

Got food poisoning from eating a pasta in white sauce with mushrooms, starts with A.
How do you store/ prepare food must not be up to Health Department standards?…

Also, they charge 3 % of “ surcharge “- on top of the tax- rip off. Will not be back, and do not recommend.

We celebrated our anniversary at The Gage in Chicago, and it was absolutely perfect. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was elegant yet warm, and the service was exceptional. Cliché or not, is the best burger in town. And you never lie about a great meal.

I’ve had many burgers in my life, but never a medium-well this perfectly executed intensely buttery, rich, and stacked with bread-meat-bread perfection. If you’re visiting Chicago and want to experience a true classic done exceptionally well, The Gage is a must-try.

Because in the end, the first bite is the real judge… and this one found gold. 🍔✨

The Gage offers a consistently enjoyable dining experience in a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The food is flavorful, well-prepared, and thoughtfully presented, with a menu that combines classic favorites and modern twists to satisfy a variety of tastes. Portions are generous, and everything feels fresh and carefully cooked. Service is friendly, attentive, and professional, making the meal smooth and comfortable from start to finish. Overall, The Gage is a reliable spot for great food, excellent service, and a vibrant atmosphere that makes dining there a pleasure.

We always enjoy coming to The Gage for great food and atmosphere. This time, we want to give special thanks to our waiter, Jose, a real pro who made us feel like royalty. His food and wine suggestions were excellent. He has a very attentive and pleasant manner without hovering. Service like this is what makes us want to keep coming back, and why we choose The Gage over other restaurants in the loop.
We also noticed the music choices were very cool and fun as well. The Gage does a great job at being sophisticated without having a stuffy atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit!

The atmosphere was great and the food looked nice, but the taste was terrible. I would only recommend burgers and fried foods. The biggest issue, though, was the service. The waiter did not treat everyone with respect, and that is unacceptable. This was Valentine’s Day and she missed out on a great tip because of her attitude. This restaurant needs to get it together good vibes don’t matter if the food and service are poor.
