Ah, The Glenwood—where the beer flows like a gentle stream, and the camaraderie is thicker than the foam on a freshly poured pint. Let’s break it down, shall we? ?Atmosphere: Picture this: You walk in, and the air practically hugs you. It’s like the bar whispers, “Hey there, regular or newbie, we’re all in this together.” The vibe? As friendly as a golden retriever with a tennis ball. ?Dog-Friendly: Woof! ? The moment you step through the door, a four-legged ambassador greets you. Tennis ball in mouth, tail wagging like it’s on a mission to power a wind turbine. It’s like the place has a secret motto: “No tennis ball left behind!” ?Drinks: Meet Micki, Lovely Judy, and Jenn—the bartenders who’ve mastered the art of pouring liquid happiness. Craft brew? Check. Classic pint? Double-check. And rumor has it, they’ve got a secret stash of unicorn tears for special occasions. ??Affordability: Wallets, rejoice! The prices won’t make your credit card breakdance. It’s like The Glenwood whispers, “Hey, budget-conscious friend, come on in. We’ve got deals that’ll make your piggy bank do the cha-cha.” ??Hours of Operation:Monday to Thursday: 3:00 PM - 2:00 AM (because even bars need beauty sleep)Friday: 3:00 PM - 2:00 AM (TGIF, right?)Saturday: 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM (when the night owl in you spreads its wings)Sunday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 AM (because brunch and brews are a match made in heaven)So, if you find yourself on the Far North Side of Chicago, follow the scent of good vibes and wagging tails. The Glenwood awaits—a place where laughter echoes, and the beer flows like a river of liquid sunshine. ? Cheers, my friend! ?

A friendly neighborhood casual bar

Guy working the bar tonight (8/8/23 @ 830) never made eye contact with me, even though I'd been waiting patiently at the service area, with one other person ahead of me. He served that guy, then made it a point to wait on two other people, who walked up after me, at two different times (and not even up to the service area). It meant he had to walk right past me to do it. I've been a bartender. He wasn't slammed. He's either bad at his job, or it was intentional. Either way, it sucked.

If I could rate at '0' stars I would do so. This filthy joint is located in a decades long run down neighborhood that feels very unsafe even in daylight hours. And forget about wasting time at the "Pride North" fest they sponsor. Unwelcoming. Not friendly to obvious lesbians. Not a dog-friendly event (which is located ON A PUBLIC STREET) where I thought I might walk thru with my dog and spend $ to buy a refreshment on a very hot day while listening to tunes spun by a locally known DJ for a few minutes. Complete waste of time. Would never spend a nickel here (The Glenwood) nor bother to venture up this way again to "Pride North". Awful. Go elsewhere if you want to celebrate Pride.
