Food: 4, tasty but there are many other competitive options in the city Service: 4, responsive staff Ambiance: 4.5, cute space, dim lighting, semi-intimate

Service was prompt, helpful and efficient. Appetizers were good but isot fries were underseasoned and a bit bland. Same goes for the Adana kebab. A nice experience but probably won't return, too many better options.

My sister and I visited The Gundis to celebrate a special occasion. Our reservation was on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was very busy, but the ambiance was comfortable and service was attentive. We shared the Kurdish breakfast for two and it was exceptional. We loved the variety and the balance between freshness and richness. We left full and satisfied. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

Visited The Gundis tonight for a quick dinner and I was so pleasantly surprised! I've heard their brunch is incredible, and their dinner was too. Started with the hummus + bread (yum!) and ordered the stuffed chicken for my entree. The chicken may be one of my favorite dishes in the city now. Stuffed with spinach and goat cheese and topped with a Kurdish cream sauce, what's not to love! Cozy atmosphere and quick, friendly service. Highly recommend!

This was an absolute treat. This was my first time trying Kurdish food and it did not disappoint. I started off with the Lamb Mardin Eggplant Stew. The savory and juicy lamb pieces over a bed of eggplant / veggie puree was satisfying and elegant. 1 dish was plenty! Ineeded time before dessert, so coffee it was. I cannot say it enough, but Kurdish Coffee is spectacular and a true treat. You may only get about 2 ounces - but it is worth it weigh in gold! It is aromatic - hints of cardamon (maybe cloves?), and tastes almost like a dessert. TRY IT! I promise, it won't disappoint. Then I moved on to the apricot rice pudding - it was good, nice balance of flavors, and a good way to close out this wonderful experience.

I didn't even know what Kurdish cuisine was but now I'm a huge fan! The lamb shank was one of the best lamb shanks I've had in the states. (The Best was in Greece.) The meat just fell right off the bone. I could've used a butter knife or just my fork! It was so flavorful and juicy, and the rosemary sauce was perfectly fragrant without being overpowering. The bed of mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, and a perfect match to the delicious lamb! My partner had the stuffed chicken with goat cheese and spinach which was also lovely. We rarely order chicken when we go out bc it tends to be dry but the chicken at Gundis was perfectly juicy and flavorful. The two starters we had were grilled halloumi cheese and the baba ganoush. Both were tasty but we were definitely blown away by our mains! Service was on point and the restaurant had a warm and welcoming vibe, like we were at a big family get-together. This is one of our new faves and we're sure to be back for more lamb!!

One of my favorite places I've ever dined at, it was perfect the food. It felt like a little too much food at times but god it was so good. Service was kind and the ambiance was perfect for that of a brunch restaurant.

Amazing food! The meat was of great quality and so were the veggies. Make sure to try the Kurdish Baklava which was my highlight. The staff was also extraordinarily friendly. Kurdish people are known for their hospitality!

Really cute spot with lots of natural light. The kurdish breakfast for 2 was a good value and the soujouk scramble was so flavorful and delicious. The accompaniments were just okay but it was lots of fun to try everything. They did ask us to leave our table as soon as we were done paying which was a bummer, as I was there with friends that I hadn't seen in a while and had to cut our visit short.

The most delicious Kurdish coffee (not caffeinated), Turkish tea, and Turkish coffee in Chicago. The food was delicious too. The service was good, as you could see in the video, our server was nice and game when I've asked him to put the coffee again on the table so I could take a video. The cups are just elegantly cute. We came on Saturday brunch. The place was full when we get here, we had a reservation but we waited for 20mins before we get seated on. We will probably come back here now that we discovered this place.

I like to call my experience an artistic bite. The weekend breakfast that I had was a gem; you can get a breakfast for 2 which has small bowls of different tasty foods, and fresh bread to have with, plus one omelette. This breakfast is Kurdish/Turkish traditional originating and very popular. Paintings are well chosen for a modern but cultural environment, and all servers I think were also Kurish/Turkish. It was a delightful experience integrated with thoughtful senses and arts.P.S. photo is low quality but I added to document we one had a Kurdish delight in the middle of Chicago; and ordered 3 breakfast for 2 which was too much for 6 of us.
