Gyros and Mediterranean salads are their specialty and only items on the menu. The food is good and at a reasonable price. I like to swing in here for a quick lunch. Staff is always friendly and welcoming and service is usually prompt and efficient.

Sometimes you just want a bowl of rice and meat and halal guys hits the spot. Their crinkle cut fries are fried fresh and delicious.

Super excited that this New York establishment made its way to Chicago. This is the second location here and both are great. I highly recommend the hot sauce, although I will warn you it is extremely hot. My friend was crying.

This place is AMAZING! Excellent service, clean, and scrumptious options! I'd recommend this place to anyone. It is spots like Halal Guys that makes me want to leave my home and go out with my buddies to enjoy a wonderful meal. Thank you for your excellence!

My husband and I just got take out from here for dinner, and I would say about 40% of our order was correct. The guy working would ask us what options we wanted and then completely ignored our answers. I said I only wanted white sauce, but he gave me red sauce, which is way too spicy for me. He asked it I wanted olives and onions, I said yes to both and got neither. My husband asked for onions and peppers and got neither. I could only eat about a quarter of my meal before giving up because it was too spicy, so the whole thing was pretty much a waste of money. Come on, man! Get it together.

Always enjoyed going to this branch. I dont really understand why they do not have better ratings. Not only is their food great, their staff is great too. There were 2 guys who were working there around 9pm and they were friendly and happy! This location is perfect as well. Just be weary with parking the area can be busy so you might not find parking right infront of the restaurant.

The food here was meh at best. Being from Chicago, I have high standards when it comes to quality gyros, and Halal Guys, unfortunately, did not hit the mark. We came here because my fiance had tried their famous food truck in NYC. He swears it was delicious, and I believe him, but there was a lot to be desired from the Wicker Park location. A telltale sign that the food might not be that good is that there were no customers in the restaurant during peak meal time, which was the case for us around 6pm. We gave them a shot anyhow. I ordered the beef gyro with the famous white sauce. Even though there were no other customers in sight, they scraped some existing gyro from the corner of the grill and put it in my pita with tomatoes and their famous white sauce, which sort of resembled ranch dressing, not tzatziki sauce like I'm used to. I ordered a side of hummus and pita, which was the only saving grace to this meal. Upon eating the gyro, the meat was actually crunchy and dry from being on the grill so long. It was terrible. I regret not speaking up and asking them to slice me some fresh meat from the spindle. My fiance ordered the bowl, which comes with rice, and it was a little tastier. His chicken and beef were dry too, though. All in all, I would not dine here again. There are so many other Mediterranean and Greek restaurants in Chicago doing it right. Go to them instead!

Not quite sure why this place has such low reviews, maybe I've gotten lucky or management has reorganized in the past few months. I've been here a couple times and enjoy the food. I used to live in Philly and frequented the halal carts so I missed the food when I moved to Chicago. Halal Guys isn't as spectacular as the carts but the combo platters are still tasty. The hot sauce is SUPER hot - I was thinking it was going to be a heat similar to the red sauce from the carts - I only put a few drops on my meal and it's plenty of heat. I have seen poor reviews from Grubhub about people not getting the correct orders, but I haven't ordered from a third party to confirm this. It's a good place to scratch the itch for east coast halal carts. A liiiiittle pricey though, I'm used to spending 4 bucks for a platter!

I'm surprised to see some of the bad reviews. The last time I came here, I had a good experience, but maybe that's because I love chicken and rice and as long as I get that dish, I'm good. I came in the afternoon on a Saturday so not sure if the service is better and the food is fresher at that time. The servers were friendly. They made sure to ask my preference on the sauces and assembled the dish efficiently. I ordered my meal to go but there were a good number of tables filled with diners. My plate had a good veggie to chicken ratio. The food was good and reminded me of the chicken and rice trucks back in Philly and New York. It was very saucy - just the way I like it. I hope the service and food gets better here. It would be shame if this place went under. Every neighborhood needs a chicken and rice spot!

I just left this place it was terrible. The meat was old, not cut right and the bread was hard. I've had halal guys in New York, LA, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. The guy that was working there was miserable and didn't even want to talk to us nor make our platters right. He told me a small and regular platter are the same thing! After I asked for a regular size he kept shaking the spoon of rice not wanting to fill up the platter. Bad experience!

Ordered to go. The service for me was great. The gentleman helped me and did things in a timely manner. I got the sauces on the side. I got a combo platter. To be honest, i have no complaints and was completely satisfied. I miss getting a platter on NYC so for this being my next bet, it was good!
