Easy to get your food and plenty of space to eat. Food was good and the workers were nice. We preferred the chicken.

Food is amazing and the portions for the platter are great! The staff were super friendly and helpful and make nice accommodations to customize your order. I wish there were more locations for this place.

I didn’t want to base my opinion on my first visit, but after a second experience with the same issues, I feel it’s fair to leave an honest review.

I appreciate that this is a halal restaurant, and that’s important to me. However, the consistency and attention to detail have been disappointing.

On my most recent order, I paid $4.99 for extra meat, but the portion did not reflect that at all. The gyro meat was overcooked and dry, while the chicken was flavorful. I specifically ordered double meat, and it simply wasn’t there.

Additionally, I ordered a chocolate baklava cheesecake, which was missing from my bag. This was especially frustrating because during my first order, both fries were forgotten. At this point, it feels like a pattern of incomplete to-go orders.

These aren’t small orders — I’m feeding a family of three and spending $80+ per order. When I called about the missing dessert (which was $6.99), the response was very casual: I was told I could come back to the restaurant. That’s not a great solution when the issue is simply making sure everything is placed in the bag before it leaves.

An apology was given, but there was no real effort to make it right or acknowledge the inconvenience. When customers are spending that kind of money, there should be more care — and some accountability — when items are forgotten.

I really want to support halal businesses, but accuracy, portioning, and customer service matter. I hope the restaurant improves its order checks and consistency going forward.

The Halal Guys is a solid choice for flavorful halal food in Chicago. The chicken and gyro are well-seasoned, portions are satisfying, and the signature white sauce really stands out.
The food quality is good and consistent, though prices are a bit on the higher side compared to similar halal spots. Service is quick, and it’s a convenient place for a filling meal, especially when you’re craving something familiar and reliable.
Overall, a good experience and worth trying.

Hard Arabic/Pita Bread, beef was not tender or chewy, too much spices.

Definitely not coming again.
Not worth the 12.5.

This was my first visit to a HG and sad to say I wasn’t very impressed. Just don’t see the hype with this chain compared to other establishments that sell the same food.
I had the beef gyro platter which was bland and the rice wasn’t very flavourful either.

Hard pass on the food. Similar to reviews on Yelp, the chicken is flavorless and chunky. It also made me sick. Eat somewhere else…Chipotle’s around the corner if you want a chicken bowl.

They prepared my food plentifully, but the server seemed to have hearing problems. He misheard my request more than once.

First time trying falafel and baklava. Wasn’t a huge fan of either but I’m sure the rest of the food here is enjoyable
