My friend and I got drinks and sat outside in this unusually located space. The sidewalk space is roomy, clean, and away from busy streets. We overlooked a soccer pitch. The music came through lightly, and they had a great folk band. We were able to talk easily to each other without worry of intruding on other people. I expect to keep on eye on their music artists and plan to return.
Snagged a Saturday night show at The Hideout — $10 cover got me in, and I grabbed two Old Styles plus a rye‑whisky punch. Free beer‑nuts slid across the bar, and the back‑room stage is snug but crackling with Chi‑town energy — real locals here diggin’ live tunes. Free street parking right out front on Wabansia made it easy. Five stars for this stubborn neighborhood gem.
I feel like I was here in 1986 and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a dive bar/community center with music but I was there for veggie bingo. The patio has a wide view of the skyline due to being across the street from ball fields, nice and open feel for being in an industrial setting. Some families and people that all knew each other. A dog was loose inside for 20 minutes or so before a bartender said had to leash or leave. If I’m honest I do favor some things newer and fresher...
