We ordered from The Hot Dog Box online with the expectation that the location in Portage Park (our neighborhood) was open. It was not, even though there were articles stating it opened in the summer. We did not expect to require pick up on the South side of the city, as a result we refused to pay on our card. We currently are in dispute, and have tried reaching out to discuss with someone without success.
This place is amazing and the staff couldn't be more helpful. My first time, here, I asked all kinds of questions and they enthusiastically answered. I got the bronzeville hot dog; my taste buds were so pleased - so good!
Had to go with just ok, because I only got a regular Chicago style dog. Guys working there was cool. Roughly $7 for a hot dog, chips, pop, and a cookie. Being was a basic dog nothing to special. Will be back to try the gourmet styles which runs close to 20$ with tax. If in area looking to try something more than a basic dog def give it a try.
I came all the way from 106 and torrence to get here at 5:30 on the door and their close. Claim they close at 5:30 not 6pm. Doubt If I'm coming back and I called to see what time they closed no one answered.
What a find! Imagine a food truck in a permanent location. When the economic downturn from the pandemic hit, this guy (and his nine year old daughter) opened a gourmet hot dog stand outside the Metra station in Bronzeville. I’m glad they did! When I heard about the filet mignon dog with slaw, peppers, bacon and bourbon bbq sauce I knew I had to try it. Every bite was amazing! Worth the trip from Andersonville to try it!
One the Absolute best hot dogs I have ever had ten toes down and two thumbs for this amazing black chef
