Out of all the Chicago soul food restaurants, this is hands down the best one yet. Will definitely be back!
Service was lovely. Our waitress Carly was very attentive and great with recommendations. The music was just bit too loud for us. (I brought my mom there for her 74th bday). Other than that, would definitely return!
Girl's trip from St.louis,, reservations was easy to make online, I ordered waffle and chicken, my friend had the chicken, greens and cornbread the greens has a hint of spicy which gives them that kick yummy and the cornbread was soft buttery sweet yummy in my tummy, our waitress was friendly and prompt! I will definitely revisit!
Food was absolutely delicious every thing we ordered was fresh . Drinks were good service was excellent definitely will be back
I had a reservation at the L Station to celebrate my 1 year wedding anniversary. The restaurant closed unexpectedly on the day of my reservation and no one reached out to me to inform me. My wife and I were 10 minutes away from the restaurant when she went on their instagram page to look over the menu and that's how we found out they were closed for the day.
I really wanted to love this place because the food was actually great—but everything else was a disappointment. The seating was terrible, and there was no A/C, which made the whole restaurant feel like a sauna. The floors and tables were literally sweating, and so were the people. It was hot, loud, dark, and overall uncomfortable. The host had a nasty attitude from the jump, and our waitress forgot about us most of the time. When our drinks finally came, they were completely watered down—by then, we barely wanted them. What really rubbed me the wrong way was being hit with an automatic 18% gratuity for a party of TWO. I'm more than willing to tip for good service, but when the experience is this bad, it feels like a slap in the face. The food was the only highlight, but unfortunately, it's not enough for me to return unless they make serious changes.
So giving an overall review I would say it was a 9.7/10 experience. I got the 2 unsure which comes with 2 waffle options(I got the strawberry), 2 sides(macaroni and cheese & yams), and 2 pieces of chicken. My friend got the lamb chop dinner (2 regular and 2 jerk) with a side of cabbage and macaroni and cheese, both meals were amazing and the only thing I would suggest is seeing if people would like jerk sauce to mix with their Mac n cheese and other food items if they would like(if it's not on the menu already and I just didn't see it) overall the staff was really nice and the music was definitely a great touch with all the 2000's and up RNB music playing while we enjoyed our meal, definitely will be back in the future keep doing what you do and thank you for having us!
Let me start with the positives! Yall the food was AMAZING. Everything I ate was exquisite. I ordered apps and an entree and even though I was so full, I ate EVERYTHING on my plate. Nothing came out cold. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Just incredible. Drinks were excellent. Everyone at the table had something different and I tried them all and all of them were exceptional. Well flavored with the right amount of liquor. 10/10. Our server was lovely. Really sweet. Really attentive, super helpful. Now for the not so great side of things. It's small... like really cramped. We were sat right in front of the door so we kept having cold air blasted at us as people were coming in and out. The music was WAY TOO LOUD. I was yelling trying to talk to the person sitting next to me. And my friend across the table? Nothing. lol It's also giving hole in the wall with the exposed HVAC system and a wobbly table, etc. lastly, it was REALLY pricey. But I couldn't even be mad about that because the food was so good. lol so it's one of those places that I will go back to maybe in a year or so. So I do recommend going. I also just recommend knowing what you're getting yourself into.
I ordered the platter. The chicken had great flavor but could have been cooked a lil longer. The Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes were good as well. The waffles were served cold and had no flavor. We were told a reservation had been waiting for about 15-20 minutes and we were asked if they could start cleaning the table to prepare for the next reservation, so we had to wait for the to-go order that was placed up front. The service was very slow, which contributed to why we were still seated along with having to send cold food back to the kitchen.
The staff was not friendly at all. The place was very small. I was seated by the restroom which was awful. Then moved to the bar which the seats were very stained. So I left never had the opportunity to eat the food. I won't return nor recommend.,

When we went they were not serving brunch just entrees only. Didn't order anything. Just left
The food was bomb, but it took us a long time to be seated. It's also a very small building so our seats were right by the door in an area with heavy foot traffic. People were bumping into one another and our table so not very relaxing. Also very loud. Server was slow but very nice. Again, the food was great so I would still go back.
“I was there with a group of friends. The host was extremely nasty and rude. The food was just okay. There were eight of us in the group, and the highest rating any of us gave was a five. However, I do want to give a special shout-out to Kendall. She was really nice, professional, and very accommodating. She was our waitress. We decided to “NEVER” come back because of the really mean host!
The venue is small but the food didn't disappoint. Our party was a total of 6, they accommodated but it was a tight fit. I had turkey tips, spinach and macaroni and cheese. The tips were tender and plentiful, I had enough to take home. The drinks were good but a little pricey. Overall I would do it again.
I made Easter Sunday Reservations two months in advance. I received an email confirmation the day before Easter, only to learn on Easter Sunday that the L Station would be closed on Easter Sunday. This was disappointing, frustrating and I have zero desire to support this business.
