Don’t get the burger medium rare like recommended, get it medium. Great bourbon menu, but make sure to hold onto the drink as they pull them away without notice!

I suppose the burger is really good if it still tastes ok at room temperature. It took forever for the burgers to come and when they did they were not warm at all. In fact the cheese was hard and coagulated on one side it and the buns actually seemed slightly stale. The fries were warm so they had just been cooked but the burger felt like it was prepared about three hours earlier and had been sitting out since then. Definitely not a best burger in America experience.

My third time here with friends. The first time, our group sat at the bar -- bartender's service was on point -- quick and no unnecessary interruptions. The second time, our group pierched at the backroom and ordered and had food brought to us. No frills yet still enjoyable.
This time (last night), the server provided unenjoyable service I've had at the Loyalist -- several times, when our group was obviously in deep conversations, the server came and interrupted our conversations to basically ask if we wanted to order more food (rather than attending to our needs).
One of our friends unexpectedly showed up and joined us -- and the waiter basically almost bullied our friend to order.
Don't know who does quality control for waiters -- how is this kind of service acceptable?
Food was great (consistently), and atmosphere amazing as usual. But please keep better servers.

My group and I were so excited to come here, we heard great things and with it being a sister restaurant to 3 Michelin star Smyth, what could go wrong? Well, a lot.
For our appetizers, we ordered the oysters (decent), tartare (no seasoning whatsoever and the quality of bread it came with was horrible…basically just raw ground beef with a dry hoagie roll, and fried olives (plain olives in a flavorless, deep-fried breading).
The burgers came highly recommended, so those were ordered for the mains along with the half chicken and a salad. To say the burgers were disappointing is an understatement. They were incredibly overcooked, dry, and flavorless. The description sounded amazing but none of the flavors came through and everything lacked salt. You could go to Five Guys and get a better burger. The chicken was ok, though the flavors were a bit too sweet. Salad was probably the best thing and it was just ok.
We wrapped up the evening by having profiteroles and a cookie for dessert…it reminded me of something you get in a chain restaurant, I think we each had one bite and were done.
From some of the other recent reviews, it seems like something has changed in terms of quality because this was by far one of the worst meals we’ve ever had.
For connecting itself to Smyth, I expected so much more in terms of flavor, execution, and service. It felt like an overpriced food chain with better drink options and lackluster food.
There are hundreds of better options in the city, I would not eat here again and don’t recommend.

The burger is good, nice cocktails. Server was a little salty. Lobster chopped salad made the trip worth it.

Made a reservation for 5. Came here 5 minutes early. Had to wait more than 20 minutes. They handed out large tables to parties of 2. What’s the point of making a reservation if they can’t even keep their end of the bargain
Edit: they really care about service, thank you, as someone who recommends this to people whenever they visit from out of town and has visited this place numerous times in the last 6 years

We visited The Loyalist for dinner, it was our last night in Chicago celebrating a family event. We were a little disappointed with the reservation system, since The Loyalist came highly recommended, especially the OG Cheesebuger. I will say Dave and The Loyalist Team was very attentive and made sure to make our visit memorable.
The food was amazing, especially the OG Burger, the salads was shockingly good and the dessert was awesome. Definitly will recommend and come back. The Lapierre was a great compliment to the burger.

We’ve never tried anything like its OG cheeseburger. Loved every bite! The fries didn’t step up to the cheeseburger’s game, though. The fries’ sauces were good.
The half chicken was juicy and its skin, crispy. The gravy complements the chicken well.
We also enjoyed the lobster salad. The different textures and flavors that went into it produced a harmonious dish.
We booked a reservation, so we knew we’ll have a table. It’s just too dark for me. And it could get noisy.
Thank you for the meal.

I was in town for a work conference and my birthday happened to be during the week. I decided on The Loyalist to celebrate solely based on their famed cheeseburger. I can easily say I that I am not remotely interested in coming back. First off, I wanted to order starters and then mains a bit later. Our server rejected that idea and forced me to order everything at the same time and they would time the order. This should have been red flag number 1.
We ordered several things including the French onion soup, deviled egg, cheeseburger, and steak. The cheeseburger was so bland and smothered in mayo or aioli. The steak was also drowning in some brown liquid reminiscent to wine based BBQ sauce.
After taking our order, our server came back to our table a whopping 1 time to refill our drinks or ask if we wanted new drinks. We were here for almost 90 minutes. Based on my experience here, I wouldn’t even consider Smyth, which is really unfortunate.

Went to the loyalist for the first time. My husband had the cheeseburger and I had the Smashburger and both were excellent. Christopher, the manager, and Ruby, our server made the meal perfect. Thank you for the great food and service.
