Great food and service! Ate there before heading to a concert at Epiphany Center for the Arts.

From the host stand to our runner and Kevin, our server, it was stellar. If I could give 6 stars for service, I would!!! And as per usual, the food was superb and beyond reproach. Publican can take the most old dishes and imbue them with originality & freshness that just leaves preconceptions in the dust. Publican is the best. And thanks for being open on a cold & blustery January winter day. And with a smile too!

Went for brunch and the table enjoyed the omelet with Boursin cheese (something we will try and replicate as well as multiple orders of the 2 eggs with breakfast potatoes and bacon/sausage. All items were delicious. The mezcal cocktail was quite tasty.

Went in for dinner last night and everything was amazing! The fried mushroom and sweet potato sides were excellent. We got the pavlova for dessert, it was the perfect little sweet bite at the end of a wonderful meal!

The food was excellent. I just had a burger and salad, but the salad was so fresh it was perfection. The burger delicious too. My favorite thing though was the drink that Kevin created using Pandan. I almost went back in the evening just to have that drink. Mezzy Sunflower!! It is my favorite drink! Amazing. Try it.

Another incredible meal at the Publican, where everyone was hospitable, the food was great, and they made a special occasion feel truly celebrated. The Publican remains the best!!

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the city. They seem to have changed ownership and undergone a renovation, and the food was very disappointing. The beef fat fries just tasted like regular fries and were not crispy like they usually are. The roasted oysters weren’t fresh and had a fishy taste to it ($14 for three small ones btw). The happy hour burger was alright. The most ridiculous thing, which I never heard in my life at a restaurant, was that the croquettes we ordered “weren’t holding and were falling apart in the fryer, so they’re removing them from the menu”. We were the first customers through the door for happy hour, how is that possible?

They’re either cutting costs heavily or their kitchen staff just doesn’t care anymore… The characteristic decoration with the pigs are gone, schnitzel is gone from the menu, in general the German-European vibe seems to have been replaced. The prices just don’t justify the subpar quality whatsoever, and it’s not an upscale place.

We left towards the end of happy hour and the spot would usually be packed, but it was still completely empty. Wonder how much longer they’ll stay open honestly, very sad to see

not was it used to be, real disappointed. bougie prices for sub par food. my omelette was bland. the pork belly hash was whole boy scout campfire potatoes with spicy pasta sauce that didn’t taste good, where was the pork? the food runners kept mistaking who ordered what food and 1/2 a poached egg flung off the farro salad onto the floor. the coffee creamers were chunky and separated. the bread is always delicious but the spreads were weird - pimento was very chunky and the salmon spread was bland. The pharaoh quinoa salad was so salty. My friend could not finish it.

No complexity or substance to any of our dishes. We wonder what the heck happened? And how this is getting such a good rating.

just…blah blah blah.

we took 3 people there from out of town and only 1 person liked their food. won’t be returning.

on a positive note: bathrooms are great, room was beautiful, staff was nice. bacon was delicious. bread delicious.

The Publican is a self-proclaimed homage to European beer halls and every part of the experience commits to that idea. The space felt lively and communal, with long thick wooden tables and high ceiling. Casual and energetic, it's the ideal place for dinner and some drinks with your friends. The food followed suit: no frills, no smoke and mirrors, just generous portions of satisfying, well-executed dishes. Their farm-to-table menu is ever-changing with a few staples, all of which are approachable and comforting. We’ve worked our way through a lot of their offerings, and everything consistently ranges from solid to great. We can never skip the oysters or the pork rinds and the chicken entrée is always so tough to pass up. A night out at The Publican always feels like a throwback to simpler times: casual, unfussy, and all about good company.

Steak is expensive, they don't say the price on menu but ours was $135 but it was so good!!

It took 80 minutes— no exaggeration— to get our two sides (bread with smoked fish spread and rillettes) and two vegetables (salad and beets). The bread came out quickly but the rillettes took 45 minutes. At an hour, we asked our waiter Kevin about the salad and beets and he said he’d put the order in now… even though we’d ordered them 50 minutes previously. It then took 20 more minutes for them to arrive. I understand a kitchen can get backed up, even on a Monday, but there was zero communication that we would have to wait such a long time. Our waiter was not very present at all but luckily another one filled in to refill our water. The drinks came quickly though.

This was my second visit and I do not see myself returning. At that price point, I’d expect less terrible service.

Service was great, environment was lovely. Food was just overall disappointing. The crudo was too saucy, seafood stew was decent but nothing outstanding, the beef was okay but same - nothing to rave about and the sweet potatoes were so charred that it just tasted burnt. The only decent part was the beef tallow fat fries with garlic aioli. Publican food isn't what it used to be years ago. Very disappointed overall in our meal.

We had the BEST time at the Publican for Sunday brunch. While I can rave about the food and atmosphere, especially the cinnamon roll and bread plate (trust me!) I came here to complement the service. Our server, Savannah made our WHOLE EXPERIENCE. She was a fantastic server. Attentive? Check! Thoughtful? Check! On it? Check! Fun and personable? Check and check. I would go back to the Publican just to sit in her section. Give her ALL the tips, praise, and while you’re at it, a raise! She’s THAT good!

The Publican was a huge hit with my meat and potato loving parents. Publican bread is amazing and their spreads pair so well. Perhaps my favorite dish of the night! The chicken with summer sausage and ham chop highlighted how well they know how to cook meat. In addition to one meat dish each, four of us shared the BBQ carrots (a must order!) and the mixed lettuces. We all left stuffed with lots of leftovers. Our server was on point all night and I loved the unpretentious vibe. You can’t go wrong with a meal here!
