I was a bit underwhelmed. The service was okay and the food was okay. Not too different from an average banquet hall meal. My wife said her dish was barely cold though it shouldn't have been and her salad looked below average. If Google had half stars I would rate this as 2 1/2.

Fantastic Pre fix menu perfect for a meal before the Opera

Given the variety of comments this meal was far better than I expected. The location allows views onto the street and the arrival of the opera audience. We were a party of 8 and the service was not 100% but overall efficient when prompted – each server has a lot of tables to cover. We were prepared for the 3 courses to arrive together and they were very acceptable. Desert and coffee during the interval worked very well. It is expensive but given the convenience acceptable.

We've been Lyric subscribers for decades and finally decided to dine at the Pederson Room to make it a special evening, particularly since the pre-fixe meal cost $42 per person (beverages, coffee, dessert extra). Unfortunately, we hadn't read the reviews beforehand which were mostly negative OR looked at the dated photos of the plated dinner. We expected to have a leisurely meal and were completely surprised that our soup course, appetizer, and main course all came at the same time like a Bento Box--so do you want a cold main course or a cold soup. Everything also became cold very quickly since the portions were tiny. My short ribs were 1 small cube a little over 1inch x 1inch with about 6-7 tasteless potato slices thin as a dime, a little larger than a quarter, and seemed microwaved. My soup, however, was delicious but cold. The burrata appetizer was served with a small piece of bread about 1 inch in diameter. The broccolini was so al dente I could barely get my knife through it. Venison, something not often seen on a menu, wasn't bad. As other diners remarked, the meal is designed to get people in and out fast, so "fine dining" is a bit deceptive. Tables did, indeed, turn over quickly. Service was very good and the dining room elegant. But, honestly, if you want to spend $150-$200 for a meal, there are so many other places to dine in a city like Chicago.

Great meal for a great price, $85 plus drinks for two people! Food was tremendous as was the presentaion. If you are going to a show at the Lyric Opera House, this is a woderful place to eat before the show and you are already in the opera house.

Service was attentive. Food was ok, but portions are ridiculously small for what you are paying. Go elsewhere.

My husband and I were seeing a performance at the Lyric Opera House and we made reservations here out of convenience because the restaurant is in the Opera House. Our waiter, Darbey, was very efficient and attentive. But the food is plated to move you along quickly so you receive your appetizer, salad and the main course all in the same plate. What happens then is your entree gets cold. The food although cold would have been very good if heated but the price is extreme! I just recommend that you find a restaurant and give yourself enough time to enjoy a hot meal. Then walk over or cab it to the Opera House. The performance was incredible but the meal was highly over priced and cold!

Absolutely horrible service. It was embarrassing. The hostess was rude and condescending. The food is served all at once and can be best described as wedding food. Chicken, beef and fish were all horribly over cooked. Wait and bus staff were fine. In a world class city like ours, enjoy the opera, but skip the smarminess and cat food.

Our first time but I pretty sure it will be the last. The decor was great and so was the service. My issue was with the food served cold and all on one plate. You really get the feeling of 10 minutes and out. If you stop eating someone swoops in and ask are you done. There has got to be a better way!

I came here before watching Le Boheme at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. There was a course meal, like a prix fixe. The food was pretty good, but the portions were disappointing provided the price is above average. The server also spoke much about each of the menu items but ended up messing up one of our dessert orders. The overall quality of the customer service was top notch. I just wish they paid more attention to the customer experience. Perhaps the service was compromised due to full-house busyness of the restaurant that night. But they were scheduled for the second dinner batch after our group, so that's that. The Sarah and Peer Pedersen Room would be a place I visit only when I have plans for an opera at The Lyric. I do hope my next visit is better.

This restaurant had a delicious prix fixe menu with chef-curated options. Everything is excellently prepared and portioned to be filling, but not so heavy that you cannot stay up through the performance! Our server and bartender was very warm, kind and knowledgeable and we were very happy with the service and food.I'd love to give this restaurant 5 stars but, unfortunately , the host saw us for our ages (25 and 28,) rather than just normal patrons. We were made very aware this is a higher priced establishment and there were only a couple of 'bar tables' avilible. She also suggested we may want to go to the less expensive bistro upstairs. That kind of sat sour on our palettes, but did not keep us from ordering the dessert in advance!
