Horrible food and overpriced. Frozen plate dinners taste better than what they are serving
Places like this are what we love about going to chicago. Great food, family operation in a very no frills environment. Just perfect for lunch or a quick bite
This food was so gross, old with no flavor. The meat tasted like it had been sitting out for days. I won’t eat here ever again. I don’t understand how this place has 4.2 star reviews. Makes me wonder if they are fake reviews.
Ordered a larger selection of food through postmates/Uber Eats at 4:47 PM, the order showed lot's of different delivery drivers, but none of these reached the Restaurant. Dunno why, either food not ready or better business? At 5:40 PM the order silently disappeared.I am very unhappy. I know, that this is Christmas Eve, but I'm unable to organize my own food at the moment. Still hope, that other restaurants are doing better.
Menu prices are not accurate. Somasa chaat is just 1 somasa with so much lentils. Which is not ok when I pay $7.49 for it. Then the bhel is dry it’s basically plain stuff and the chatni had this weird layer of solid figure in it. Too expensive, disgusting and a wast of money
Go here if you wanna get sick. Some of the food items were spoiled and smelled bad when brought it to attention of staffs they just ignored and didn’t even say sorry. It’s not at all Indian food and everything tastes so bad..Staffs are touching the curries in bare hand and tasting it. No cleaning and safety protocols are followed. They don’t speak English. They charged ridiculous prices for such as horrible service and food
I had the lamb with vindaloo curry. We also ordered the chicken tikka wrap and lamb tikka masala with naan.Everything seemed stale and old. I paid way too much for stale food. I get that restaurants need to use canned tomatoes and not the freshest ingredients, but for the price a customer pays here... you can't just sling around old food. I really wish I asked for my money back. Regrets...
Just traveling through. Fast, yet flavorful! Owners were friendly. It was the only place open in downtown Chicago besides a pizza place. Thank goodness it was open on the weekend!
As you read on most comments, their food is amazing. And inexpensive compared to other down town stores. Very good place.
This review is about the order placed on Sept.14, 2021 @ 2:03pmI live close by and I am a frequent customer. All my past orders have been great (5/5). This location has pretty good samosas, wraps and lassi in downtown Chicago.Today's order wasn't as satisfying as the past orders. I had ordered a few things and one of them was Samosas which comes with green & sweet chutney, but unfortunately, both the samosas & green chutney had gone bad. I have ordered many times from this place, I know the tasty and I am an Indian, so I can tell when the food has gone bad. I called the store but the lady (European accent) wasn't happy that I called to let her know that, "Please don't serve this to other customers as the Samosas had gone bad" and she hung up on me while I was still talking. Based on my in-store experience as well, the customer service has always been a sore point for this location. Without sounding overly negative, this place needs to work on their customer skills and how to communicate with them, and take feedback (positive or negative) when a customer leaves one.
Restaurantji Recommends
The feast and samosa chat was amazing and delicious. Definitely a must visit.
A little hidden gem off the path. Gotta love the chipotle style Desi concept. Gotta go all in for the tava feast. Can't wrong with the kadai sauce with either chicken or panner. Also only one of the few Indian restaurants to offer some Jal Jeer as one of the drinks!
Get the Somosa Chaat 11/10 I recommend very highly!! We also got the rice bowl with tikka Masala but unfortunately it wasn’t anything impressive. The rice and curry had a ton of flavor but the chicken was lacking. The cashier was also super nice!
Must visit place for Indian Cuisine. Samosa Chaat and Aloo Tikki Chaat were amazing.Biryani was good too.
Absolutely fantastic food!! We tried the pav bhaji, vada pav, hand made lassi and jal jeera!! They absolutely nailed the flavors!! We were celebrating birthday's and the owner gave us some extra lassi's. So thoughtful!! We went back again and they mixed up a part of the order, but immediately made up for more than that by giving us the dish on the house!! I wish I could add more stars!! Will remember this place for a long time!!
