In Chicago on business, but meeting with friends for dinner here upon recommendation. The wine special was delicious, eggplant parm was wonderful, and spaghetti and meatballs was classic! Really appreciate being seated in the perfect spot for conversation while visiting with friends. Thank you Topo Gigio for a wonderful experience!
It was. fabulous time with amazing food and drinks. Been coming here for year's Love this place !
Great neighborhood spot, with a great selection and well prepared Italian dishes. Most of the servers are terrific!
Went today with a friend. The food was awesome! The squid ink pasta was in their secret menu. I am allergic to dairy and they were very kind to make the grilled calarami and squid ink pasta butter & dairy free. Salad was awesome. Very refreshing. Mocktail was moderate. Risotto cannot be dairy free so I did not order it. But the buttery and creamy soup would be the whole point I guess!
Service was awesome.
A bit too dark inside and also be prepared for the loud chats. Normal in very popular restaurants right LOL.
Again I would definitely bring other friends and families here again and again in different occasions. My fav Italian in Chicago!

Great food-so pricey for pasta dishes but we've been long time clients. Love the place and will return but just need to realize that it's going to set you back pricewise
I love Topo Gigio! I go back all the time for the conchiglie alla sarda pasta and the espresso martini! They are my favorite and the service is great!
Excellent service! Lamb chops were awesome! The spaghetti and meatballs never disappoint. Outstanding seafood pasta dish! Wine selection is great and a fantastic value!
Tried Topo Gigio after seeing it recommended everywhere, but it was a disappointment. The seafood risotto was the only good dish (4/5). Everything else — the spaghetti with meatballs, grilled calamari, conchiglie, and chicken with sausage — was very average or below. Prices are high for the quality, and service was minimal. Overall 2/5 — not worth the hype.

Miguel was a wonderful waiter. Filled us in on specials but we already knew what we came for. The calamari was light and crisp. Cesar salad was fresh. Our main course was delicious. We both had Spaghetti ai Frutti de Mare. Tiramisu was light and fluffy. What an enjoyable evening. My husband and I have been customers for 20 plus years.
It was swamped....everyone friendly....just had drinks....would love to go back. Cool place.

My business colleagues and I had a great meal at Topo Gigio. We shared fried calamari and the burrata with prosciutto for appetizers. Plenty for 7. Then we shared pastas and mains. The house special pasta with the peas was delicious and rich. Veal scallopini and vegs was great and ox tail was really good. All easy for 3 to share and none of the plates were finished. The place is noisy but fun. The staff was great and we would definitely go again.
Great spot! The owner is of the restaurant takes our order and makes sure we have the best service possible. Food is great... pasta is great.
Undercooked and dry food, the calamari was bland and the pasta was too al dente. The chicken smelled like it was seasoned well but on consumption was also incredibly bland
I have been dining at Topo Gigio since 1987, when I moved to Chicago from Rome, Italy (grew up as a US expat). It was Bill Kurtis, who has an autographed photo on the wall at Topo, that first brought me to Topo for dinner. Topo Gigio is a fabulous neighborhood restaurant, the food is very good, particularly the pastas (my favorite, as all the long-time waiters well know, is Rigatoni al Filo di Fumo!). And the waiters are absolutely wonderful people, many of whom I have had the privilege of knowing for the past many decades. I also was the one who sponsored Topo Gigio to be reviewed by the Italian Consulate in Chicago (we hosted a large dinner party at Topo) and as a result Topo secured the much coveted recognition from the Accademia Italiana Della Cucina, confirming that even the Italian cultural institutions tasked to promote Italian food and culture love Topo Gigio! Look forward to my next visit.
The food is delicious and the service is very good. The food doesn't take long to arrive.
