I don't think I have seen that many torta options anywhere else (27!). They even have photos of every one lined up on the wall, which makes choosing a little easier. I kept it simple with the asada torta. We had some complimentary chips and refried beans to start. It was easily the best beans I have had in a while. The torta, which was already huge, came with rice and more refried bean. Flavorful, juicy carne asada and veggies were loaded between nicely toasted bread. I actually love how the bread was just thick enough to be enjoyed while not taking away from the meat. If I am being picky, the meat was a touch undersalted for my taste but there was a salt shaker on every table so it was an easy fix. Both salsas were great.
These tortas were fire fire sure. Can't wait to go back.

Has been consistently solid. I think it's a Family biz, in this case, that's a good thing; it feels like everyone cares about being the best because they all have a stake in San Lanchito's success.
This would be a good place to order from for friends from out of town. It's Chicagoey and not the usual.

It's a hole in the wall Mexican sandwich place. Are you looking for a torta? They have tortas. They also have burritos, quesadillas, and tacos which are; in my opinion, also Mexican sandwiches.
Are you wondering if it's good? It's good. Is it the best sandwich you're ever going to have? Will this sandwich change your life? I wouldn't go that far but it's good, the price is right, the people are friendly, and it's fast.

For the price, the food is really good and the amount of food is very generous. The torta is very good, especially the bread. The bread is my favorite I’ve had in a torta though I think the asada could have a bit more flavor. Overall I rate the torta a 4/5 but the overall experience a 5/5 especially for the price. Also the beans and rice are amazing, probably the best I’ve had.

**update 2025** - El primo still makes amazing tortas.
**Review from 2014** - Torteria San Lenchito is a great spot for tortas ( sandwiches). The menu affords a sandwich for whatever you may be craving. Steak, chicken, pork. I am a big fan of their torta Philly Steak, which is a delicious take on a Philly cheese steak sandwich. I intend to try them all!

Do yourself a favor, give this place a chance! The food is top tier. Portions are huge AND tasty. Had a torta de asada with rice and beans as the side. The torta is an XL, the rice was an 7/10 but the beans a 9/10! Torta was a 10/10
