We had our Thanksgiving dinner here this year, and absolutely loved it. This was our first Thanksgiving at a restaurant, and going to Tortoise Supper Club may be our new tradition! Incredible holiday atmosphere, such wonderfully friendly staff, and so much food. I highly recommend!

I hosted a private dinner for customers in the Red Room and it was a 10/10 experience. The room was beautiful with graet ambiance. Jackson, our server, was the best. He has impeccable timing and made the service run seamlessly. The food was delicious. Kelli and Megan were SO helpful in planning the event as well. I highly recommend hosting a private event here!

Me and my partner came here during our stay in Chicago, and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had! Bruce and our server Kaitlin were amazing! The atmosphere of the restaurant is stunning, intimate and sophisticated. The service was top notch from everyone! And every single dish we ordered was delicious! 10/10

Celebrating my husbands birthday, it was a great experience. Although his prime rib was extremely less than awesome for the $60 price point (tough and didn’t seem slow roasted long enough), everything else was 5 stars!

Very good food, and the staff was all very nice and attentive. Highly recommend the lobster bisque and salmon wellington.

Keep in mind the happy hour drinks deal does NOT apply to eating in the dining room. Not a big deal but we weren’t expecting/aware of that until we got the check.

An absolute gem of Chicago. This place has class without the overhead. The atmosphere alone eludes to such without disappointment.

With over 25 years in the service industry, I can honestly say the server “Chimmy” has given us a level of service I’ve never known was attainable. Be lucky enough to sit in his section and enjoy a verse or two from Irving Berlin amongst others.

Prost!

Went here for my birthday, food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our server Linda was so kind and helpful, and she serenaded us for my birthday! We’ve already planned to come back over the holidays. Also make sure to get the mashed potatoes I have not stopped talking about them since.

Tortoise Club is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I come here every time I visit. Everything is always amazing, but I especially recommend the Beef Wellington. Very few restaurants offer Beef Wellington nowadays, so it is always a treat to see. Tortoise Club makes one of the best I've had!

I also recommend visiting in October to try the succulent Pheasant Pie. If Fall was served on a plate, this would be it!

For dessert, the items are again all amazing, but the cherry pie definitely takes the cake. For some reason, it is extremely hard to find a good rendition of cherry pie. Usually, the filling is overly sweet, or there are barely any cherries (rather a ton of syrup). Worse yet, sometimes restaurants put too much corn starch into the filling turning it into a congealed mess. The Tortoise Club, however, makes the PERFECT cherry pie. The cherries are bright and tart, the filling is mostly all cherries (very little syrup), yet the filling is still soft rather than congealed. Simply the best piece of pie I've had in recent memory.

Moving on to the bar... They do not get cheap on the liquor in their house cocktails. They use top shelf liquors. The South Side cocktail had zero 'piney' taste from the gin. It was clearly a really high quality gin. The presentation was incredible, too. The bartenders also went out of their way to make a Chicago Fizz for me. Which is one of the drinks made famous in Chicago during the Prohibition era. It was not on the menu, but they made me an absolutely wonderful one. If you're lucky enough to dine here when they have live music, spend 30min at the bar before your reservation and savor the live jazz.

Finally, the atmosphere of the Tortoise Club, combined with the unique and wonderful food, is what sets it apart from other Chicago establishments. It feels glamorous, yet approachable at the same time. Which is also reflected in the prices. It's not cheap by any means, but for the money, and considering the portions and experience, it is a much better value than many others in Chicago. Give it a try! Now, I need to figure out when my next trip to Chicago will be someone I can come back!

Made reservations weeks ago for me and my wife's anniversary. Really had been wanting to try this place. We had come once before for a night cap and a piece of pie. But we never had a full meal. Made a reservation for 7:30 hoping to hear the live jazz. We get there. Our table isn't ready, and there's a private party in the room where the jazz music was so we wouldn't be seeing that either. After waiting 30 minutes and the owner barely acknowledging us we decided to take our business to Smith And Wollenskys right up the block who were more than happy to find us a table right away. My wife was very disappointed. We had high hopes for a nice dinner and some live music.
