Amazing, we spent our Christmas Eve dinner here and unfortunately weren’t able to make a reservation but they accommodated us and we had the best dinner

I had the PLEASURE of dining here and let me start off by saying John D was an amazing server. Extremely attentive (including the other staff) and cracked a few giggles out of me! I got the spicy shrimp pasta and it was DELICIOUS. My friend got the vodka rigatoni and it lived up to its hype! And don’t even get me started on the ATMOSPHERE. Ugh! Felt like I traveled to a different era. Definitely go when it gets dark. Another special mention, the complimentary coat check! Loved it.

Their pasta is the bomb! Their smoked salmon Caesar salad is my go-to. 10oz prime ribs are below decent. Serving 2 thin slices, it's not worth trying. There is nothing special about fish and chips. Sticky date cake was a bit too sweet for my taste. Oh, and heads up, there's a 3% surcharge and $16 valet parking. Great drinks, great service.

The reason I am giving this place a 1 star rating is because of how hyped up it was via social media and google reviews, the price, and then the let down of the taste of the food. My girlfriend and I are in town from Dallas and wanted to choose the best restaurant we could find for a date night on a Saturday night in the city. Once you enter the place, the ambiance and vibe are great. We ordered the most popular items according to social media, reviews, and our waitress. We got the Rolls, pigs n a blanket, crab rangoons, Vodka rigatoni, Trivoli cut prime rib, and the mushroom casserole. The rolls were any average roll you can get from a restaurant AND cost $7. Most rolls are complimentary at restaurants, especially ones where the cost of the food will be north of $150. The pigs n a blanket were no better than going to buy some mini hot dogs and crescent rolls from the store and slapping them in the oven at home. The horseradish sauce that came with them was way too strong. The vodka rigatoni was probably the most hyped up item of them all, and it was the worst item. Probably the most bland pasta I’ve had from any restaurant to where my girlfriend and I didn’t even want to take it home for leftovers. The Trivoli cut prime rib was mid at best. 5/10 with not much flavor and the sauce it comes with is not good at all. The mushroom casserole had full mushrooms in it with some crunchy onions. I expected a more creamy type of casserole. The best item were the crab rangoons, and even they didn’t excite me that much. The place apparently is always slam full, and was when we went, but I wanted to go up to everyone sitting in there and ask them how they enjoy this place and why. It didn’t make sense to me. Our server didn’t care to ask us how the food was either. Just overall not a great experience due to the hype behind the place prior to coming mixed in with the moderately high price of the bad food.

Geez! It’s difficult to get a reservation at this restaurant even when you book weeks or months in advance. Trivoli Tavern’s reservation system is broken and backwards. I work in the hospitality industry and know for a fact 100% that not all reservations are kept. If someone is a no-show then you need to do better at notifying ALL of your parties on waitlist as first priority. Room for improvement: If this continues, I will never give you my business and will go to your competitors and other restaurants in the area that prioritize their guest reservations.

Trivoli Tavern has become one of my favorite spots in Chicago! I’ve been twice already—once for my anniversary and another time for dinner with a friend visiting from afar—and both experiences were exceptional.
The spicy vodka rigatoni is an absolute must-try. It’s the perfect blend of creamy and spicy, with just the right kick to keep you wanting more. Every bite is indulgent and flavorful.
For dessert, the sticky date cake with ice cream is divine. Warm, gooey, and perfectly sweet, it’s the ultimate way to end a fantastic meal.
Trivoli Tavern delivers on ambiance, service, and unforgettable food. I’m already looking forward to my next visit—it’s a place I’ll keep coming back to!

Great atmosphere , very lively. Friendly service and very attentive. If you don’t have reservations come when they open and you can secure a spot in the bar area. Menu had a nice variety and the dishes we had were excellent.

Very loud. Had to shout to hear the people at my table. The food was okay, but for a $42 steak, I expected a better cut with less gristle.
