If I could give the food and atmosphere here 6 stars I would. Everything here is delicious and the alley way dining experience is one of a kind in Chicago and a must try in my opinion.

I did have a pretty bad experience with a single staff member one time, most of the staff here are very friendly and extremely professional, but this one person was so bad that it left a mark on my otherwise perfect experience.

When I made my reservation, I specifically included that I was celebrating graduating from my doctoral program. I dislike when restaurants ask for information just to not act on the information. Travoli Tavern did nothing to help make the night special. It was just another regular Friday night aside from simply being asked where I graduated from once or twice. Why ask if I’m celebrating something if you’re not going to contribute anything meaningful to the celebration? Then, after getting a bottle of sparkling, my glass was only filled once when the bottle first came out. There’s someone refilling your water glass but not your champagne glass. To me, good service means no glasses are empty especially when you spend the money purchasing not a glass or a carafe but a bottle. Despite being a party of 1, I spent more than $200. Despite the lackluster service overall. As far as I’m concerned, I have no reason to ever return to Travoli Tavern. It’s just another overhyped west loop restaurant.

Note: My waitress was perfectly pleasant. These service issues I feel speak more to organizational failures.

Joined the waitlist and was not given an estimated wait time. It ended up being a 3h25 minute wait.

2 hours in, we inquire about our place on the waitlist and are told we are up next in the queue. Despite that—and this is the reason for my review—an additional 1 hour and 25 mins passes before our table is ready. I do think I overheard that there was a mistake and our table was given to someone else? No apology offered.

Very overrated and over priced. Nearly $8 for bread you can buy at your local grocery store, and we practically had to beg for water. The pastas and fish dishes were decent, but not worth going back for. Service was mediocre. In a city like Chicago you can find dozens of better places that don't over charge like Trivoli does. Would not recommend.

Amazing restaurant! The service was fabulous and our waiter gave us wonderful recommendations. Quick and attentive. Must try the vodka rigatoni with sausage and the sticky date cake!

Super cute spot, but the food is absolutely not worth it especially when taking the price into account.

We ordered the crab Rangoon, rigantoni, “Italian beef,” and orrechiette.

All of the food was a solid 5/10 or below. It was an extremely disappointing meal.

The crab Rangoon was quite bland and the sauces did not compliment the dish well.

The beef was my least favorite of all the things we ordered. Dry, with little sauce and the sauce provided nothing to add onto the dish.

The rigantoni and orrechiette were both made with poor quality noodles, that were not cooked well. I have been to Ciccio Mio several times and the difference in quality of the dishes is insane for a similar price.

Overall, I do not recommend and I am quite confused on how this place is raved about. I am assuming people love it for the “vibes.”

Don’t waste your time or money

Everything was outstanding, from drinks to dessert, and each course was fantastic! I wouldn’t change a thing! This is easily one of my top five favorite restaurants of all time. I would recommend a reservation. Even on a Sunday night, it was busy.

Came here for my 3rd year anniversary. It was worth making a reservation over the phone than using any reservation site. Great service from my homie Brad C. He is a very observant and caring host. He made it a great experience at Trivoli. Ordered two great steaks that came out to the perfect temperature and were full the best seasoning one could have. Their drinks are amazing and i recommend to get one to understand how great it is. Overall i would come again and ask for Brad to be my server again.

Worth it.

On a serious note though, the quality on the food is heartwarming. I’m usually not one to spend over 50 dollars on a meal, but this would be the exception. Basically every menu item in this restaurant is the best version of what it could be, at least in the chicago area. The atmosphere of this place also feels great. I’d happily rate this restaurant a 9.5. For those who say trivoli tavern is “mediocre”, maybe look into what kind of budget you’re expecting to spend at a restaurant. For a 50-100 dollar budget here, you’re practically eating at a two michelin star restaurant. There is likely not many restaurants that can compete.
