It's my opinion Not yours
I was here a couple weeks ago and the food is always a hit the service can be hit or miss. I use to live in the area and would come here often it was good then and still good now. I just suggest they upgrade it get a form of ventilation it was 90 plus degrees the day I came and the lobby area was even hotter their was a very small fan if I blinked too fast I would have missed it. I enjoyed my food but please make the lobby more accommodating for the long wait.

The best Jamaican food. Generous portions. Tender and succulent curry goat wth so much flavor. They were nestled on top of fragrant red beans and rice. The plantains were amazingly caramelized, and the steamed cabbage was the perfect veggie side. Great jerk chicken and beef patties as well. Their sauce tied the whole meal together-i put that on errythang! So good!

Hit up Tropic Island Jerk Chicken on 79th and grabbed the D1 – ½ Jerk Mixed Chicken Dinner for $14.75. Came with rice and peas, mac & cheese, and cabbage. Chicken was smoky and tender, and the mac was creamy—real comfort food. Only downside was the wait; took about 20 minutes, and they were out of plantains. Still, the flavors hit just right.

I would NOT recommend this place if you are looking for Jamaican food.
Ordered 6 jerk wings and not even exaggerating they were hardly edible because of how over cooked they were.
The Mac and cheese was lackluster. The Curry goat and Oxtails were a tier below adequate . Jamaican food is not supposed to be “adequate”.
Do not recommend and they need a complete revamp

Haven’t been here in awhile, so I decided to order and had it delivered. So disappointed ☹️. Order the jerk catfish with mac and cheese, cabbage. Wasn’t good at all. Rice and beans were not fully cooked . Cabbage had too much vinegar. Mac and cheese was a joke. Just wasted 28.00 dollars.

So I been craving some real homemade authentic jerk….. this wasn’t it at all!!!!! Although everything came out hot and fresh the flavors were not on point!! Yams were still a little hard and only flavored with sugar, no real taste!! The chicken was okay, juicy but still not giving jerk flavor!! The Mac was definitely made from the box and the greens were okay…. The sauce was hot but still didn’t have any flavor!!

~Good Day, I had a taste for some really good oxtails....usually I make at home. Decided to google a location & ran across this one, as I work on Lake Shore Drive...Despite the bad reviews it was my first try & I was hoping for a positive turnout.Well I'm uberLy disappointed, I only got like three small oxtails hardly any meat on them. The red beans & rice was bland & dry, cabbage omg! Disgusting & the Macaroni & cheese was definetly box made." Smh! A least I know not to order here again." Sticking with making my delicious homemade oxtails moving forward~
