When I scooped up the corn in the container, there was a slimy substance at the bottom potion of the container mixed in with the corn that looks like snot or phlegm. The more I scooped the bottom of the container the more this thick clear substance snot/phelgm appeared. I have pictures and still have the corn for testing if need be. Tropic Island Jerk Chicken watch the people you have preparing your food. The location is 553 E 79th St, Chicago, IL 60619. If the owners want to reach out please do so. Disgusting. Inhumane.

There food has really fell off , the string beans had no flavor , the can sweet potatoes all I taste was cinnamon, and the chicken was just alright with the dry rice and peas, oh I almost forget they didn’t put the bread that I paid extra for in my 3 dinners, a waist of 50 bucks .

This was some of the best jerk food I’ve had in a long time! My container was packed full of food, hot and fresh! I order the jerk catfish and I ate off that plate for two days. Everything was delicious. 8.5/10!

Tropic Island Jerk Chicken is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Caribbean flavors! I tried the jerk chicken plate, and it was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with that signature smoky, spicy flavor. The sides, especially the rice and beans, were cooked perfectly and complemented the chicken beautifully. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. I was here a couple weeks ago and the food is always a hit the service can be hit or miss. I use to live in the area and would come here often it was good then and still good now. I just suggest they upgrade it get a form of ventilation it was 90 plus degrees the day I came and the lobby area was even hotter their was a very small fan if I blinked too fast I would have missed it. I enjoyed my food but please make the lobby more accommodating for the long wait.

The best Jamaican food. Generous portions. Tender and succulent curry goat wth so much flavor. They were nestled on top of fragrant red beans and rice. The plantains were amazingly caramelized, and the steamed cabbage was the perfect veggie side. Great jerk chicken and beef patties as well. Their sauce tied the whole meal together-i put that on errythang! So good!
Hit up Tropic Island Jerk Chicken on 79th and grabbed the D1 – ½ Jerk Mixed Chicken Dinner for $14.75. Came with rice and peas, mac & cheese, and cabbage. Chicken was smoky and tender, and the mac was creamy—real comfort food. Only downside was the wait; took about 20 minutes, and they were out of plantains. Still, the flavors hit just right.

Ordered 6 jerk wings and not even exaggerating they were hardly edible because of how over cooked they were.
The Mac and cheese was lackluster. The Curry goat and Oxtails were a tier below adequate . Jamaican food is not supposed to be “adequate”.
Do not recommend and they need a complete revamp
