This is my favorite spot for casual dining so far, food is great, service is good and ambience is nice.
True food kitchen is one of my favorite brunch places in Chicago. I ordered the banana Foster chia seed pudding for starters and the blueberry pancakes for my entree. The tulsi tea was delicious too. If you like pancakes and enjoy a healthier taste without skimping on flavor, the pancakes are a must try. Our waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu items. The ambiance was quiet and pleasant for a Saturday afternoon in the city.
It was great! Love the vibe. The menu is extensive and offered lots of choices for our group of very diverse eaters! And our server was really terrific! He really took care of us. I'm definitely going back!
Fantastic teriyaki bowl with steak!!! Also has a season salad loaded with healthy and I expected veggies. Loved the.dressing. Fantastic service, so fast and prompt.
My husband and I went out for a nice lunch, but it decidedly wasn't. The service was lackadaisical at best and terrible at worst. The food was not up to the usual TFK standards and was very disappointing. And to top it off, the restaurant was chilly -- as was our food! In the past, even though the service is pretty laid back (almost non-existent), we've gone again because we like the food. Even that was disappointing on this visit so I think we won't be going back.
Great service. Hate to say it but of the four dishes we had, 3 were severely lacking in any flavor. Further, within a few minutes of leaving I got the worst stomach cramps. Not returning. Sorry.
We booked the thanks giving dinner for thanks giving since we are visiting and wont be home for the holiday. The meal options was pretty slim, First, we found that in the dinner meal they did not include any drinks, not expecting alcohol but at lease cokes, so they charge extra for drinks outside the bundle price for coke or coffee. The email i chose was the thanks giving meal turkey plate. Starting with the dumpling soup. The descriptions states dumplings, no mention it was a soup. It was ok, made of all beans,, in the broth and crushed in the dumpling. It was ok, the other options brussel sprouts roasted was good cooked well. But now lets move to the main meal. The plate comes out first thing i note is the roll, a roll from the store, Hawaiian roll, cold, not even warmed cooked. For the premium price you would though home made rolls would have been appropriate. Requested rolls and was informed for extra charge i could have another roll. The plated food. The turkey was good, you received a decent services. You also received a scoop of mashed potatoes, A side of cold gravy in a plastic cup came with it. You also recieved stuffing that was almost as good as stove top stuffing. I was a square cut slice. The other side was carrots, unseasoned baked plain carrots. I was somewhat disappointed for the “mission of the place”. The desert was pretty sad, a squash pie similar to dumpling or a chocolate browning with ice cream. The place was pretty much empty during the dinner time , now understanding why, Overall the space was quiet, not really warm and inviting. Mostly empty at 5 pm. Few coming in. Service was slow,, didnt bring additional waters or follow up on the food once sent to the table. At the end of the day, i would have went to anywhere else. REALLY not worth the price or a good experience. Think th remake was more appropriate to be served on paper plates at a fair.
I didn't walk in wirh any preconceived notions, so I was delighted by my experience. The food, waitress, and ambience was absolutely fabulous.
True Food always has a wide variety of options for vegans and carnivores alike. This restaurant did not disappoint. There was even a kids menu, something a lot of places no longer provide.

When I first came in I got a plant based double cheese burger, it was horrible. The bun was bad, patty was odd and burnt, didn't have much taste and the greens wasn't up to expectation. I got the seasonal vegetables as a side and it was even worse. Cauliflower was overseasoned just like the carrots and it was weird texture. I was in such disbelief I didn't even capture the picture.
They then replaced it with the Ancient Grain Bowl and the avocado was stale as if it was sitting out all day and the quinoa wasnt the best texture at all. The portions on the mushrooms was so little and the onions weren't even cooked all the way.
The customer service wasn't good at all. The waitress and the manager had an attitude and it wasn't a good experience at all.

I was very disappointed with my experience here. The food took far too long to arrive, and when it finally did, the quality was poor. The chicken Parmesan was poorly prepared, and the turkey burger came with burnt buns and overcooked fries. For the price, this place is not worth it, and it certainly doesn’t live up to its 4.5-star rating. I won’t be returning and recommend others avoid it as well.

My mom and I came here for dinner last week and it was wonderful! I got the Korean noodle dish (pretty good, missing a bit of salt but overall tasty) and my mom got the spinach and mushroom pizza, she said it was wonderful. The star of our experience was our server Maria. She was prompt, knowledgeable and so wonderful! I would return partially for the food (I could always add some tofu and a bit of salt if needed) and FOR SURE for the wonderful service! Great experience.
