I am so amazed by their quality of food! The chirashi bowl was so fresh, with each slice of fish melting in your mouth with savory fattiness. The cuts were thick and satisfying. I was really full by the time I finished the bowl, and the price is actually a lot cheaper compared to other places that are of less quality! My boyfriend ordered the ramen and it was yummy as well. Will definitely have to come back and try other dishes!

Sushi tasted amazing - fresh and really flavourful. The fatty salmon sushi in particular was delicious. Really reasonably priced, too.
You absolutely must try their Spicy Miso Ramen and Sushi Deluxe – they’re both incredibly delicious. The restaurant is spotless, and the music is so catchy that I couldn’t help but sing along with every tune. This meal was such a joyful experience

Some of the best sushi in the city for a great price. Plus they play fire music.

Ukai is my favorite sushi spot in the city. Their appetizers and rolls are so fresh. My favorites are the avocado crown and Lili dragon roll. Not to mention their crab rangoons…. The service is always so amazing and the atmosphere is top notch.

Favorite sushi spot in Chicago. Best sushi rolls, super tasty, and great price. It is also BYOB so you can bring your favorite wine / sake. Definitely worth coming to UKAI.

Ukai has been one of my favorite sushi restaurants for a few years now. They are an affordable, quality, lowkey sushi spot with a delicious menu and great selection of fish. I've never had something that I didn't love! The service is great, and it is BYOB which is always fun. Couldn't recommend this place more!

For some reason, many Japanese restaurants overseas are run by Chinese people.
This place has been around for a long time, and I used to pass by it all the time, but from the exterior, I could definitely tell it was China.
I had never been inside.
However, it has been in business for a long time and from what I read the reviews are very good. I decided to go in.
Once inside, the interior is reminiscent of China.
The sushi toppings are roughly piled up in the sushi case on the counter, and I flinch when I see this.
I ordered the sushi set and the tonkotsu ramen.
The middle-aged man who served us was very friendly.
However, I like it better than Americans who are very friendly but have no idea what they're saying behind their backs.
Now, as for the food, it wasn't bad.
The sushi toppings weren't fishy and were delicious.
If you practice more on how to cut material, it will probably be better than this. The sushi is not high-end sushi grade, but it's not that bad either. It's good that vinegar is used.
The tonkotsu ramen didn't have tonkotsu soup, but it was still delicious.
The soup and noodles taste like instant noodles, but they are delicious.
A long time ago, I went to a sushi restaurant run by a Japanese chef that had great reviews on Yelp, and I was very disappointed. I was impressed that even though it wasn't run by Japanese people, it still had delicious food.
(Some of the Japanese chefs in the U.S. did not train in Japan, so they are often disappointed.)

Would have given 3.5 stars if I could. Decent sushi, so so ramen. Would go again for the sushi and actually sushi takeout should be good also.

The food was ok,
The ladys attitude was not the best,I asked for fresh Wasabi and she was upset that I did, they did not have any. Overall, it was just ok.
