Visited this place last week & it was the best spicy tuna I’ve ever had!

Umai is a hidden gem in Chicago! The atmosphere is sleek yet relaxed — perfect for a dinner date, night out with friends, or solo sushi fix. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
I tried a variety of sashimi, and every single one was fresh, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. The fish was high quality and melted in my mouth.
Prices are reasonable for the quality you get, and they have a great drink selection too. Umai definitely earns a spot on my go-to list for sushi in Chicago.

Went right before close on a Thursday. Got food and service right away. Staff was friendly. Space is a little tight, but we got seated next to some nice people. Food was delicious

Food was mediocre. This waiter was not at par. seems like she had a bad day. The ambience kind of loud doesn’t really go with the vibe. Overall a mediocre experience.

Ubered here on a Saturday saying they're open til 3am. Its 11pm and they're closed. What a joke

The quality of the sushi and sashimi was satisfactory and matched the price. However, the tonkotsu ramen lacked a well-prepared broth and was very bland.

Solid spot, all of the food was fantastic from the apps to the main. The service was excellent, very attentive. The food did take a little bit to get to the table, but we overlooked that because the food was so good. definitely recommend. Would absolutely come back.

This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Chicago. My husband and I have been here twice, and it's definitely a must-stop when we're in the city. I ordered the Dragon roll, Avacado roll, and Shiitake roll. All three were delicious! My husband ordered the pork katsu kare, and he raved that it was the best katsu he's had in the US. We absolutely love this place, and we'll definitely be back on our next trip!

Wait was long, atmosphere was loud. Disappointed by their vegetarian/vegan options.

Food was really bland, overall it’s one of those gentrified Asian places serving very mid food. Also they charged me $1 for chili oil without telling me that it would cost money, but also charging for a small side of chili oil is crazy.
Overall, terrible.
