The options are traditional Italian with a twist that are amazing. The dessert tiramasu was not my favorite. It actually tasted very off for man levels. I only had one bite. The reason for 4 star serve was because he did not recognize the dessert was barely touched. Overall main course awsone and service was good.

We loved the appetizers. The avocado + burrata was fantastic. The arancini was some of the best I ever experienced. It’s rare to have an experience in the middle of the rice. You’ll know what I’m talking about as soon as you experience this gem.

I loved a lot about Ummo except for the person assigned to helping us. We had a birthday dinner at ummo. I try to not be ultra critical because you never know what folks are experiencing in their lives when you encounter them at work. That being said, Luticia crossed a line that took it from someone having a bad night into being actively rude to guests.

Sadly, I wouldn’t come back because I do not want to be paired with this person again. I should have known when she ripped the menus out of our hands before we were done ordering that it would be downhill from there.

We actually cancelled half our order to go to a friendlier venue.

I’m not going back because of the hostile environment me and my 8 additional guests experienced. That being said, I wouldn’t hold one person’s actions against an entire restaurant. Just don’t get paired with Leti/Leticia if you can avoid it.

Food was great. Highly recommend getting their tiramisu it was the highlight of our dinner! Service was pretty quick, up to the point where it was time for our main course. We ordered the steak and it took an extra 30 minutes after our appetizers came out. Our waitress was also not the best, she had a bit of an attitude and barely checked up on us so if we needed something we’d always have to ask someone else to get our waitress for us. Other than that really like the ambience. Worth to go try!

Friendly atmosphere, great service minded staff. Unfortunately the food was nowhere near value for money. A fillet mignon with a minor steak size, cooked medium well (ordered medium rare) with only a poor grilled sallad and no additional side for $56 is just not ok. Also, a pasta swimming in water with no taste is a disappointment deluxe. The third course, a Bolognese, was decent. But not more. A shame, the friendly staff with the warm atmosphere deserve something better. I would recommend you to go elsewhere until a major change in cooking is in order.

Please train your staff better. We’ve been twice now and both times your people are taking away plates while we are still eating. One of our guests even said he was still eating, but was told the staffer had to take the plate because more food was coming. They tried to take a half eaten platter of prosciutto and I physically put my hand on it again and said no. We are the rest of the burrata and prosciutto without plates.
When the mains finally came, they repeatedly tried to take plates anytime we out a fork down. A table of four was hustled out in 75 minutes. It was embarrassing. We won’t be back.

Been here before for Chicago Restaurant Week, 10/10

Just went back, 2/10, would NEVER go back

Everything during Chicago Restaurant Week was absolutely amazing. Genuinely zero complaints and one of the best places I enjoyed that entire week

Going today? Bland, and felt like I was almost robbed.

Pasta, under seasoned - Cacio e pepe had zero seasoning, sauce, or pepper. Straight up, had almost zero pepper in the entire dish. Had better tasting pasta from a Velveeta Mac n Cheese box. This was my favorite dish from CRW

Desert, disgusting - Tried the Parmesan Cheese Cake. Looks beautiful and presentation was amazing. Taste? Disgusting

Vanilla Caviar resembled tapioca pearls more than caviar. Flavor of cheesecake was off, and the sponge cake was an interesting take.

I do not know what has changed since CRW, but this place went from a genuine 10/10, no complaints kind of restaurant, to everything had an issue across the board, and was not enjoyable.

I will say that service was alright, but the back of house needs some help

Caesar salad was great, as were the deserts tiramisu and cheesecake, but the lobster pasta lacked flavor and the pasta texture was not appealing. Other mains were OK. Music a bit loud. Our server was excellent!

The vibes and aesthetic of the restaurant were great especially for Hubbard St, however, the food was not good. I tried the il Vincitore which was supposed to be an award winning dish by a Michelin star chef according to their menu but it was very sub par. It was pretty much tortellini with barely any filling in soup. Did not have very much flavor if any either.

We tried the Parmesan cheesecake and it was also very sub par. Not worth it.

Disappointed by the food but the vibes of the restaurant were nice. Would go back for drinks but not food.

We ate at the upstairs Loft dining area, which was well lit and had some really fun and quirky records and decor. The cocktails were really good. Highly recommend the Hugo (their take on an Elderflower Spritz). The snacks (mortadella gnoccho fritto and oysters) were really good and well seasoned.
The burrata with avocado was a little bit of a disappointment. While the ingredients were high quality, we found it to be lacking in acid, particularly the much-vaunted aged balsamic, as well as seasoning in general. The Lamb duo was very well cooked, the ragu was flavorful, almost reminiscent of a vodka sauce. However, the accompaniments could have been better. The mint sauce again lacked a little acid for me, and the burnt eggplant ricotta puree was strangely sweet.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Note: somewhat strangely, there is a 20% mandatory gratuity added irrespective of party size

Our server was amazing. She was very helpful and informative to how we should eat certain meals and what pairs well with the meal. She made the experience there even better. Especially when it's your first time there she was very friendly and helpful.

Wanted to share a bit about our experience at UMMO -- we hosted an event for Architects and Designers at UMMO in their Loft private space in September 2024. To say it was a DREAM is an understatement. For context, I work remotely and coordinate from afar, so working with Alejandro was a dream and helped ease any sort of anxiety that can come from planning events from a different state. Not only did he help us figure out the best menu and remembered all the small details, but he also figured out a plan for us to best stay within budget. The space, the waitstaff and servers, the food -- every detail from start to finish was perfect. Our Sponsors and Designers raved about the place too -- we can't wait to be back! Thank you!!

Held my son’s wedding cocktail party in the upstairs space. The staff, service, food and atmosphere were terrific! Anna was great to work with and added some special surprises.
