Uncle J's closed down on October 09, 2022. I was was not shocked by the news. In the past few years, his health has been declining . He wasn't his usual and sometimes nasty attitude self. His meat was tender and the portions were generous. Well, I wish him God's speed .

Caribbean Family owned bbq joint, hot links, turkey tips and rib tips were definitely the things to have. The rib tips were very much like full ribs and the sauce was spicy and sweet. I would almost say get the sauce on the side if you can’t take too much heat or eat the bread provided. But if you get the sauce on the side then you miss out on getting the sauce soaked fries at the bottom of the tray…don’t miss those. The sides of coleslaw were small but definitely a treat if you grab it. Cash only no debit situation.

If you want good BBQ THIS IS IT! No call in orders or use if fancy technology here. Just good ole fashion smoked to perfection barbecue. Definitely my favorite in all of the city. We eat here at least once a week. Be sure to order your food but be specific how you want it. I usually get the rib tips and link combo, fries on top and baptized in that amazing home made bbq sauce. Great food good music amazing people. They don’t serve beverages so while you wait head across the store to the black dollar market. But the time you come back your order should be ready. This place is a staple in the community and in my diet. I highly recommend!

We were visiting from CA and was told to go to Uncle J's BBQ. I'm glad we listened. Those rib tips, chicken and links were "IT". It was delicious. They give you ALOT OF FOOD and the prices were very reasonable.The sauce was good. We were licking our fingers all the way back to LA. The owner hooked us up. He was very friendly and very welcoming..Next time I'm in the Chi, I will be back. Cash only. ??

I had been craving rib tips all week and decided to pop into this bar be que joint, which is not to far from the soup and salad place that I love. They did not disappoint!!! I ordered the small tip because they only take CASH and I had to look around in my car to find some. I like how they slice the tips nice and thin. They were juicy and tender. I ordered mine with sauce on the side. Their sauce is giving me a Caribbean mole consistency, it is really rich and good. I believe that I met he owner yesterday. He is really cool and funny. Try it out and bring your appetite and please remember that they only take CASH, CASH, CASH

This was my first visit, the wait wasn’t long and omg the food was delicious! The turkey tips were very good! I’ll definitely eat here again! This being my 1st time the guy was patient with me while I took my time to decide, overall this is def a place to visit?

Great and juicy Rib tips. Hot links were okay (slightly over cooked). Serving size is enough for two meals. Tip: Eat food as soon as possible or poke a hole in the container to let the steam out. Get spicy sauce on the side.

All it took was one try?. Nice serving size, tasted fresh, the mixed sauce was perfect, the hot links were good, the rib tips tasty, even the bread was good. Great customer service, kind cashier. When I am craving bbq, if I don't make my own- this is where I'm going. KUDOS yall ??

Had a great experience at Uncle J’s BBQ even though all I had were the french fries. My friend had the rib tips and barbecued chicken and she loved the sauce.The thing that did it for me was the customer service and my quickness in which my order was done. I will be returning to this establishment in near future.

No nonsense bbq joint. Cash only. Small place, good service, good food. The hot links are my favorites, not overcooked and true to their name, hot. The bbq sauce is deliciously sweet and flavorful. The texture of the sauce is a bit different, not as smooth as others, a bit mushy, like over ripe tomatoes, but still yummy. The fries can usually be cooked longer in my opinion. Chicken wings: good, ribs: good… I’ve visited Uncle J’s probably 10 times and they seem pretty consistent. I will definitely go back.
