Uncle Mike’s in Chicago is not just another breakfast diner. It’s a portal. I walked in one morning, threw on some Tagalog hard rap in my headphones, and suddenly my stomach and my soul were on the same flight to Manila—with a too-short layover in Chicago.

The food? Incredibly unique (at least to most white bread Americans like me), which honestly feels like a shame since the Philippines is one of the most populous countries on Earth and its food is still...
We visited from New York and were really impressed by this local Filipino spot. The warm lugaw starter was comforting and set the tone for a great meal. We had the skirt steak, pork chop, tocino, and longanisa—all cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The side of champorado was a sweet, nostalgic bonus.

Happy to support a place serving up such quality, home-style Filipino food. Definitely worth a visit!
My girlfriend and I stopped by for breakfast, and we’re so glad we did. They welcomed us with Lugaw (rice porridge), which was absolutely delicious. She ordered the Filipino breakfast combo with Longanisa and Tocino—both full of flavor and perfectly cooked. I went with the breakfast combo featuring pork chops and a 6oz skirt steak, and it did not disappoint. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was even better. Highly recommend
