The food is great but the service is abysmal. Server barely checked in on me and my friend. Asked for drinks and they never came. Ended up spending 3 hours here because the waiter took so long to take our order and bring us the check. I had to ask 3 separate people to get my check. I also told the front that it was my friend’s birthday and they did not acknowledge it at all. Good food but the service is abysmal. Don’t come here thinking you’ll be in and out.

The food was quite delicious, although some portions, like the samosas, were tepid at best. The lamb vindaloo was satisfyingly spicy, with tender lamb. Cashew Shai Korma was likewise tasty and tender with all the right spices. The service was acceptable, when you go it. Often long periods between visits, and often forgetful of what you asked for. Hard to hear anyone, to include the staff. Probably best to do takeaway……

Chicago is generally a pretty mediocre place for Indian food, but this place really really surprised me. Really great quality and totally worth the price

Despite the website saying they’re open, they’re apparently closed for dine-in traffic Monday-Thursday. They need to update their website/Google/etc.

I can't believe I haven't yet left a review, Vajra has been my favorite Indian food in the city for years. I've tried everything from lunch buffet to tasting menu special dinners to takeout, and everything is always incredibly delicious. The team is the best and weve only had great service. Highly recommend!

Vajra is truly fantastic. It has a mix of traditional dishes alongside some Asian fusion ones. Highly recommend it - the vindalu and Szechuan chicken chili stood out to me. Only knock on it is that it’s freezing - bring a jacket for dinner!

Entrées come with rice 👍
The assorted mushroom biriyani was the best. Followed by Malai Kofta, Dahi kebab and sweet potato chat. Naan was pretty soft. Was very disappointed with the drinks. Most whiskey cocktails were unavailable and the ones I ordered were very mediocre. We ordered paan kulfi for dessert and it was just ok.

one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! get the malai kofta
I was extremely excited to try this place right by my house. They had about 5 red wines on the list. Asked for a bottle of Tempranillo ($44). I was brought a Rioja for $60. I explained that we were on a budget and went to the Malbec ($48). “No, we don’t have it.”, OK, “Cabernet then ($48)…”No, everything we have is $60 and over. 3 out of 5 wines listed are not available and the only ones available are $12 above the the three bottles I requested. Working in the industry for many years, I know damn well that this is the time to please the customer. Bring any bottle and offer it at the price. Had my appetizer and left after the owner refused. What a way to loose a customer!

One of the better Indian restaurants in the city. Almost a hidden gem. The dining area was split. The first room gave off great date night vibes. The other half gave off a family friendly feel. The food was amazing. It's my wife's favorite Indian spot in the city, and she's from the UK where Indian food is no joke. Would highly recommend. My wife and I intend to go back for the lunch buffet soon.

The best Indian food in Wicker and it’s not even close. A dear friend was visiting and he said the Tandoori Beera Chicken is exactly like what he can get back home in his village. The naan is always perfectly cooked and the dal tadka is such comfort food. My one complaint is they don’t have saag aloo on the menu, but then no one in Wicker does, so I can hardly hold it against them. We’ve tried almost the entire menu and liked everything. Highly recommend over any nearby Indian places.
