My second time at this restaurant, now for dinner. It was a wonderful experience. We had octopus which was perfect consistency, the caramelization of the tuetano was fantastic. I had a steak cooked to the perfect temperature, but I have to say the winner of the night was the lamb with the hibiscus reduction, I'd recommend it to anyone. I am not usually a fan of cabernet sauvignon but I greatly enjoyed the Paolini. Next time I'm in Chicago I'll definitely return

What a wonderful option in Edison Park! Authentic Mexican cuisine with a gourmet flair is how I best describe my first experience at Westso. My dining began with the Westso margarita. A physically impressive and delicious tequila concoction that easily lured me to a second. My husband ordered the highly recommended Arrachera (skirt steak) entree and I enjoyed the Cochinita Pibill. Both were flavorful and tender with very satisfying portions. We also enjoyed the excellent customer service from the staff at Westso. We are definitely looking forward to returning and trying even more items on the menu!

By far the best Mexican steakhouse in Chicago!
This place gives you straight Guadalajara vibes — from the music to the decor and especially the hospitality. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was top-notch, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and authentic.
The service was excellent and the owner is genuinely welcoming, making you feel like family the moment you walk in. It’s rare to find a spot that nails both the food and the atmosphere, but this one absolutely does.
If you want a true Mexican steakhouse experience — this is the place. 🔥🇲🇽🥩

Went here for my birthday dinner with my husband, and it could not have been better—our server was very friendly & professional, with just the right amount of attention; nice decor, comfortable atmosphere; and the food & drinks were fantastic, including their sangria, empanadas appetizer, and our steak & pork shank entrees were delicious & beautifully displayed on the plate. And ended the evening with a free slice of cheesecake for my birthday, complete with a sparkler & sombrero.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had, highly recommend.

Went on a Sunday evening for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was dark and cozy..Staff was attentive, not overly and the food was delicious. My partner and I shared the ceviche appetizer and it was delicious. It came with a basket of freshly made chips and salsa. For the entree I had the cochinita pibil and it was extraordinary. I have never seen it presented this way. Meat was tender and well seasoned. My partner had the fish which was just as tender and tasty. The drinks were a little strong but no complaints! Honestly, I wish Westso was busier than it was. Seems to be a hidden gem.

We were very impressed by the food and service. The atmosphere is authentic Mexican. Service was fantastic. Jonathan and Shayla were on top of everything at all times and very knowledgeable. We had the bone marrow which was AMAZING and the grilled polpo which was also great. For entry I had the Pork Shank - the flavor was intense and perfectly prepared. My wife had the Red Snapper. A dish unlike any red snapper in a typical steak house style fish. Perfectly prepared and great flavor. Good wine list. Cherros were tasty. 5 stars. Coming back

First time at Westso and really enjoyed it. The server (begins with S but for privacy and misspelling will leave it at that) was really nice and informative and gave great recommendations. Followed thru when the food came with being attentive but not over bearing.
The food was delicious. Every bite was a knockout. The chefs definitely take pride in their work and it shows. Even the avocado slices were fresh and lightly seasoned. The carne asada para 2 was really good and more than enough for 2 people! The salad was fresh!
The ambiance was great, we had the place to ourselves up until the main course came out and then a few people came in. They have music (Latin) playing in the background enough to keep a lively atmosphere but not over bearing.
A really nice surprise establishment and will be back for sure to try their brunch and/or red snapper dish!!

This is the type of place you go for appetizers and drinks. The service was pretty bad. Food was mediocre; ok not great. Appetizers though were very delicious!

Absolutely loved our experience at this steakhouse! The food was beyond delicious — the steak was cooked to perfection, and the queso fundido was rich, gooey, and packed with flavor. Don’t skip the drinks either — strong, fresh, and just the right balance of sweet and citrusy.
What really made the night memorable, though, was the service. The servers were attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food and even better hospitality!

This restaurant was a great dining experience. The vibe inside is super cool: black walls, bold decor, and really comfortable seating that makes you want to settle in for a while. They really did a great job with setting the vibe with this place.
Service couldn’t have been better. Our server was friendly, quick to check in, and had food and drinks out quickly.
Out of everything we tried, the ceviche was the only miss. It was a little on the fishy side, so we’ll skip it next time in favor of something else. But that’s where the complaints end.
The drinks were one of the highlights. The margarita came rimmed with black salt and had a silver shimmer. The sangria was great as well; strong and delicious. The Paloma, made with mezcal, was smoky and enjoyable. We really enjoyed the cocktails.
For dinner, the Chuleton rib eye steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and really flavorful meat. The red snapper was not bland at all, but instead really boldly seasoned with a nice spice kick. Everything tasted fresh and had a homemade feel.
For dessert, we had the churros and they were great. Not overly sugary like typical churros. This was more subtle and the quality really shows. They were freshly made and you get a bunch of them with your order.
Between the food, drinks, service, and the cool atmosphere, we’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Definitely recommend this place if you’re into a Mexican restaurant that stands out and boldly impresses.
