We shared the guacamole appetizer, which was served with restaurant made tortilla chips. Both were amazing! In fact, the guacamole was the best we'd ever eaten. Then, we each ordered steak tacos. They were delicious. I wish I could pinpoint the seasonings, but they were different and delightful. In short, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we'll be back.

Went to Westso to celebrate my son's 20th birthday. I shared the carne asada para 2 with my mother, and it was absolutely delicious, with flank steak and short ribs as well as beautifully charred and seasoned corn, cactus, onion and jalepeno. My kids had steak tacos and said they were the best they ever had. I thoroughly enjoyed La Tamarinda cocktail and carrot cake too. The service was impeccable and ambience was lovely and soothing. Highly recommend, and will definitely return.

My second time at this restaurant, now for dinner. It was a wonderful experience. We had octopus which was perfect consistency, the caramelization of the tuetano was fantastic. I had a steak cooked to the perfect temperature, but I have to say the winner of the night was the lamb with the hibiscus reduction, I'd recommend it to anyone. I am not usually a fan of cabernet sauvignon but I greatly enjoyed the Paolini. Next time I'm in Chicago I'll definitely return

Came here for my wife's birthday, first time here and we loved it, the waitress was very friendly and polite, the food was excellent. We started off with the queso fundido steak and lamb and it was all to perfection. On the note for the reservation I added it was a bday they came out with desserts and a sparkler and sang and made the night extra special we are definitely coming back here

What a wonderful option in Edison Park! Authentic Mexican cuisine with a gourmet flair is how I best describe my first experience at Westso. My dining began with the Westso margarita. A physically impressive and delicious tequila concoction that easily lured me to a second. My husband ordered the highly recommended Arrachera (skirt steak) entree and I enjoyed the Cochinita Pibill. Both were flavorful and tender with very satisfying portions. We also enjoyed the excellent customer service from the staff at Westso. We are definitely looking forward to returning and trying even more items on the menu!

By far the best Mexican steakhouse in Chicago! This place gives you straight Guadalajara vibes — from the music to the decor and especially the hospitality. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was top-notch, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and authentic.
The service was excellent and the owner is genuinely welcoming, making you feel like family the moment you walk in. It’s rare to find a spot that nails both the food and the atmosphere, but this one absolutely does.

Our first time here and we will be back. Grilled octopus appetizer was excellent. The pork ribs were the highlight of the meats on the carne asada sampler for 2. The chorizo had great flavor but was a little salty and would be better served with tortillias or some other vehicle.

This was an excellent wedding anniversary dining experience from start to finish. Service was attentive but not overly attentive. We had the octopus appetizer which was delicious. My combo white and red sangria drink was really good. The filet with the papas bravas was excellent. We were also given champagne to celebrate our anniversary which was a lively surprise. I thought this was just a steakhouse but they also have many Mexican food options. We are planning to return for happy hour and some authentic Mexican food in the very near future. Thank you for a wonderful evening !

Went here for my birthday dinner with my husband, and it could not have been better—our server was very friendly & professional, with just the right amount of attention; nice decor, comfortable atmosphere; and the food & drinks were fantastic, including their sangria, empanadas appetizer, and our steak & pork shank entrees were delicious & beautifully displayed on the plate. And ended the evening with a free slice of cheesecake for my birthday, complete with a sparkler & sombrero. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had, highly recommend.

Went on a Sunday evening for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was dark and cozy..Staff was attentive, not overly and the food was delicious. My partner and I shared the ceviche appetizer and it was delicious. It came with a basket of freshly made chips and salsa. For the entree I had the cochinita pibil and it was extraordinary. I have never seen it presented this way. Meat was tender and well seasoned. My partner had the fish which was just as tender and tasty. The drinks were a little strong but no complaints! Honestly, I wish Westso was busier than it was. Seems to be a hidden gem.
