We stopped in for a quick treat with family before they closed, the treats are delicious and fresh! Employees are super friendly and kind.

Huge disappointment. I used to get the trail mix scone weekly and when I got one here on my trip back to Chicago it was stale. The cinnamon roll was also very dry. I’m not sure if the quality has gone down or it is just this location. They had very minimal selection at 9a on a Saturday and they weren’t expecting a delivery of more pastries that day. The furniture was stained. The dark matter coffee is good, so if you’re just needing a coffee would still recommend. Otherwise try your luck on a fresher pastry at Eatily on the same block

Warning: Bit of a rant.

Asked for a simple donut, and a “medium” cold brew with light oat milk. I was given the smallest cup possible, half filled with oat milk, and somehow the pre-tax amount came to 10+ dollars. The donut was stale as well, and the staff seemingly too busy to respond with any greeting (there was only 1 other customer)

Look I rarely review places and rarely complain, but this is probably my tipping point with Chicago coffee shops. Astronomical prices, the feeling of bothering the workers, and the utter sad excuse of customer service.

I make decent money, I’m able to live downtown in a modest place. But it’s genuinely come to the point where I’m paying meal prices for coffee, and I keep thinking about the boomer take of “well maybe if you didn’t buy coffee” which is actually true at this point, I’d be saving so much money.

But that means I can’t even buy myself a coffee and donut while going out on the weekend, on a full time job? Is this really what it comes down to?

My rating is based off me getting there one hour before they were set to close. So they had no pastries and the sausage egg and cheese biscuit came with no biscuit since they ran out. Mozzarella cheese not American and the sausage was the size of a hockey puck it was frozen so makes sense.

Tldr: DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION IF YOU CARE ABOUT FOOD SAFETY!I have been coming here to pick up coffee and pastries for the office for over a year now and thought this was a great place. I decided to come in on a Saturday for the first time with my 5 year old. Normally during the week I interact with a kind girl and have no problems. This time, there was a small guy in a beanie covered in pet hair and he was obviously drunk or high (he wreaked and was slurring his words) and incredibly rude in front of my child. It somehow gets worse, this guy (whom I believe his coworker called Bill or Will) coughed into his hands and rubbed them on his pet hair covered clothes before handling my food. My child has a severe cat allergy. When I asked him if he could wash his hands because of my child's allergies, he responded rudely and seemed to mock me under his breath. I had no faith he washed his hands, so I requested a refund and he decided he wanted to continue being rude. He was doing all of this in front of my kid. Here's some free legal advice from an attorney: you guys are begging for a lawsuit. Had my child had a reaction after eating your food because of your wasted employee, you guys would be held liable. Maybe don't hire people that will be wasted on the job and be rude to customers, that'll save you a lot of money in the future. My office will definitely not be returning to this location and I suggest anyone that cares about how their food is handled and doesn't want to deal with moody, unsanitary, intoxicated employees- avoid this place.

Tried to visit this location twice during my Chicago trip. both times it was dark and empty, and all the Acme Hotel staff said was “i guess no one came in today.” If that is the case at least put up a sign or something.

Friendly staff! Bread and pastries were so delicious. Especially the chocolate muffin was the best muffin I have ever tried!! Donut was fluffy and not dry at all:)

Only open in the morning, from 7am. At 7.45am, there was a choice of chocolate muffin, banana muffin, and trail mix scone. When they are gone, they're gone... So get there early to avoid disappointment, I had the last trail mix scone & last banana muffin, which were both very yummy ? Great coffee too - have struggled for vegan options in Chicago so finding this gem was delightful ? Note that all items have white labels, so you need to ask which are vegan. Helpful and friendly lady will advise ?

Small but characterful place. The floor is sticky and the choice of food and drinks is very limited. Very unwelcoming staff.

Ordered 2 cake bowls. It had 4 different flavor in each box and not a single one tasted good. One of the flavors was butterfinger and even before we ate it, you could smell how stale it was. I took a bite out of it anyways and had to spit it out. Worst $40 spent.

I love this place. I live in Missouri, where this infused beverage concept hasn't quite taken off like here. Every time i come into town, I make it a point to swing thru buzzed bakery. The best bakery in Chicago! I got the lemonade with a triple shot of f it, and it was heaven.

Gross, sad, and dry breakfast sandwiches. Delicious cake balls though.
