i loove the area and the people hereee
Small intimate theater with a great cast.
A nice, small and intimate space. I just saw The Tragedy of Macbeth there and because of the room size, it was such an amazing atmosphere to be so close to the actors and see/feel the emotions up close and personal. Also, with only one set for the performance, they did an amazing job transforming it into multiple locations. Bravo to the actors, crew, and staff (who were really nice and provided good service)! I definitely recommend a visit!
I HAVE SEEN ALMOST EVERY SHOW AND EVERY ONE WAS FABULOUS!
Attended a show here for the first time. Quaint intimate performances space. Friendly box office staff. Enjoyed the performances in SONS OF HOLLYWOOD!
My wife and I saw "A Recipe for Disaster" last night, and couldn't have been more pleased. The play provided a fun show in a unique setting with really delicious food and drink. The amount of food is not what you get when you order a full 7-course meal in a fancy restaurant. That being said, the dinner and accompanying drinks are well-paced and will satisfy most people. If you are worried about not having enough to eat, bring a small sandwich with you. Eat the first half an hour before the show. I doubt you will need to eat the second half after the performance. My only suggestion for improvement would be to provide a 12-oz. glass of water at each of the table seats, rather the the 3-oz size now used. The room gets very warm with all the actors running around and the full complement of restaurant customers. We were very thirsty by the end.To get the best idea of what to expect, see Chris Jones' review in the October 18, 2021 edition of the Chicago Tribune, or any of the reviews on the Windy City Playhouse website. Enjoy your evening. We certainly did.
So many good performances, so what happened to produce the flat slapstick inane "A Recipe for Disaster"? We were anticipating the wonderful combo of Bayless' extraordinary food with an entertaining evening . . . instead we felt as disappointed as we were when the main course served was green curried potatoes with bacon bits! In fact, my friends and I have coined the term "bacon bits" to recall any play/meal/experience as unentertaining as this one. It was the worst piece of theater I've seen for 3 years, and the presentation of the 1/2" of food in tiny paper cups (think smaller than Dixie) did nothing to alleviate our regrets. Believe me, no one is sorrier than I that this evening was such a groaner. Now I'm afraid to see another WCP performance!
I came in looking like a bum and the staff made me feel like I was a millionaire. The guy at the door is super cool I wish I would have left him a tip forgot his name but I remembered he was a Capricorn.
Great venue and actors and actresses! Great cocktails and entertainment!
Absolutely obsessed.
