This place was absolutely amazing. Very unassuming exterior but once you enter you’re greeted by fantastic aromas and spices. Every person who came after us commented similarly. The combination noodle with two styles of pork and veggie was superb. It happens to be the most popular dish and I can totally understand why. I am excited to come back next time to try the Xi’an style crepes. The table next to us ordered them — and it was massive! Make sure to order accordingly. You won’t go wrong or leave hungry!

Currently my favorite Xi'an restaurant in Chicago! This place is really great and everything I've tried has been solid. My faves: - spicy/numbing wontons - SO GOOD. The sauce is so flavorful that I will DRINK it (5/5) - liang pi / cold noodles - solid entry with good chili oil. Only complaint is the noodle texture isn't as bouncy as I would like. (4/5) - stone pot noodle thing - lots of different ingredients all boiled together with noodles in a spicyish soup. 'Nough said. I recommend the clear, wide noodles. (4/5) They also have some dry noodles that come with potato and carrot and optional pork that are really good and it's a huuge portion. Haven't seen this type of dish before at other Xi'an restaurants so definitely worth trying. It is on the oilier and saltier side. But I ain't afraid of flavor. Hopefully one day they'll add some hand-pulled noodle dishes like 油泼面. In the mean time I'll just keep coming back and down more wontons.

Great service, authentic flavors and convenient location! From the cold apps to the noodles, dumplings, and soups - there is a good variety of regional Chinese delights!

As a native Xi'aner, I would say they are doing good job on the flavors, very authentic, especially pulled pork sandwiches and cold noodles.

Zhong dumplings were flavourful but we found the pulled pork burger and the noodles just average. Unique for Chicago but not if you've had great Xi'an food.

The food there is authentic and inexpensive; and as you can see from the picture, the portion size is fairly large. The food is delicious, and served within 5 minutes from ordering. There's plenty of street parking at nearby streets, even on a holiday weekend. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we'll definitely visit again!

Hello.May 18,2022 is my first experience with Xi'an. And the experience was amazing. I ordered for pick up closed to their closing time, but they still took my order anyway, which was hot and sour dumpling soup. Very very good, the dumplings are not doughy and the broth is delicious unlike other hot and sour soups that I had, it's not thick. This will be the only hot and sour that I will eat in the neighborhood. Thank you for taking my order. Grandma enjoyed the food too! ? PS I don't have pics..We already ate most of it when I started writing my review.

We were watching some travel show on TV about the city of Xian in Central China. It had an entire segment on this regions food. Spicy, mouth numbing and peppery were the terms used to describe this cuisine. This travel log was highlighting some very attractive food. My wife said, "I want that for dinner tonight"! Always ready to please, I said I know just the place - Xian Cuisine in Chinatown. Well, after dilly-dallying much of that afternoon, it was getting late and Chinatown was looking a bit to far away. So, she pulls up Xian Dynasty in Lincoln Park. We jump in the car and head on over. When it comes to Chinese food, I'm the maven in our house. No brag, just fact! Xian Dynasty (from the outside) looked a little sterile to me. Normally, that wouldn't be a bad thing or a red flag or a deal breaker, but for me, concerning this food group, I want to see a "Dive" dwelling with no creature comforts and no frills or gentrified clientele sitting at a table all with IPhone 13's in hand; and that's exactly what Xian Dynasty was. First off, it was 7:30 and they close at 8:00. People were still filing in at this late hour and the person in charge here was sort of discouraging all of us stragglers from taking a seat. This was a bit of a shocker, knowing the condition of the restaurant industry the last two years. I've not seen this attitude in a long time. Well, we asked for their menu and chose two items right off the bat: Zhong's Spicy dumplings and Xi'an Style Pulled Pork Burger Our server readily acquiesced. We asked him to leave a menu at our table just case we wanted to order one more item. He said "No, the kitchen is closing soon, order now or your done"! So, we ordered one more dish, then and there: The Noodles with Beef Brisket. The food was indeed, good! But, all of these extracurricular activities were drawing away what could have been a very nice dinner experience; and, I was sorely missing a super dive restaurant with some old, crusty guy handling a old beat-up Wok with a million miles on it. Enough said! The food was good and the experience was not.....making this dinner, just OK

Great place! Most authentic 肉夹馍 (Xi'an pulling pork sandwich) in the city! The Wonton soup is also pretty tasty.

Crazy delicious, authentic tasting xi’an cuisine. Ordered takeout on a Friday night. The hot and sour dumpling soup was the star of the show - the flavor of the broth is spot on. Couldn’t imagine a more comforting dish on a chilly night. Also tried the noodles with beef brisket and was impressed, high quality meat is used here for sure. I’m 100% sold and will be back in the future!

Incredible food for an incredibly affordable price - I had the pulled pork noodle bowl and it was truly excellent. If I lived in Chicago I would order a different item on the menu every night! Will definitely be returning on my next trip.

Very tasty and great quality meat, big filling portions. Servers are friendly and it’s a nice location. We really enjoyed a full meal with the wonton soup, scallion pancakes and two noodle portions - all tasted great.

This place is an absolute neighborhood GEM!!! The food is incredible. Their hot and our dumpling soup is so delicious and comforting absolutely love it. We also like the noodle dishes which have some really tasty meat. Get some Xi’an!

Very nice spot for some casual Xi'an style food. Service is great too. There's paid street parking right outside all along the main road, which I can see being hard to come by during busier dining times. Their menu is a lot smaller compared to other Xi'an places, but there's still plenty of items to choose from. We ordered the following: - Bean sprout with wheat gluten salad (A4): this cold appetizer is supposedly their best seller in this category. I personally won't order it again because I'm not a huge fan of bean sprouts - Xi'an stye housemade crepes (B4): there are a variety of different fillings to choose from, we went with the beef and it was excellent! It was a nice balance of sweet and salty, with a fabulous crunch from the fried wonton inside. The crepe itself is very thin and airy. This is a dish that needs to be eaten right away IMO, so don't do take out on these. - Combination noodle (D5): comes with lots of braised pork and veggies. Tastes really good but it was a bit too spicy for me- would ask for less spice next time. - Zhong's dumpling (C2): I really enjoyed their version of these! Would recommend! - Stone pot soup with rice noodles: loved this dish! also quite spicy (which is a theme at this place). This dish has so much going on, eating it is like digging through a treasure chest to see what you'll find next. It includes tofu, quail eggs, seaweed and spam. I recommend getting the rice noodles over the other carb options.
