Been coming to Yatai frequently for about two years now, and every time it meets or exceeds my expectations. Service is quick and the workers are kind and check in on you frequently to make sure you have everything you need. Prices are fair especially for the portions (rice bowls, fried rice, noodle dishes, etc). My personal favorites from the menu are the crab rangoons and the crunchy sweet potato tempura rolls! BYOB and they’ll provide glasses if you need them! Absolutely love this place, cannot recommend it enough.

Casual Asian restaurant with lots of options. I’ve eaten here a few times now and had issues with the sushi every time. Bones, pieces of shell, skimping on the fish..I wouldn’t order sushi here going forward. The chicken in the pad Thai has a very unsettling rubbery texture, and the tofu isn’t much better. The ramen is pretty good. Most of their dishes are mid, I think they should abbreviate the menu and stick to the things they do well (and as of right now the only thing I see them doing well is the ramen and noodle dishes, sans protein)

We ordered online via doordash. Two complaints, first the soft boiled eggs were not seasoned, they were whiter than me.... very disappointing because it's my favorite part of the ramen. Second we order two ramen and they didn't send us enough bowls for the ramen and I ordered the crunchy crab which was kinda bland( I expected crunchy onions on top?? Just what I'm personally used to.)
On to the good the pork for the ramen was super fresh and the broth was very flavorful. The udon tempura also had great flavor and the tempura was crunchy not soggy. They did provide me with an extra egg,Sriracha, and the spicy mayo I ordered. If you order i would just request an extra bowl for the udon tempura!

You get what you pay for. The prices are fair with how the food tastes. It isn't the most phenomenal food but it tastes great and appeases your itch for what they offer, especially sushi. Highly recommend!

Ive been eating at this place for over a year, I ordered an entree that I used to get a lot and haven't gotten in a while and was pretty disappointed by the amount of food given. The orange chicken has always been good to me even though its always seemingly been just bulk purchased frozen boneless wings in a very sweet orange sauce, they gave a lot of it, it was a good deal and i liked it. But now... it costs the same amount of money, yet they give you half the amount of meat if not less and its just the same boneless wings but cut up into little pieces in a smaller container. Their food is still the same good quality, they're good with dietary restrictions, are very accommodating and polite but now they're trying to cut costs by changing portion sizes of certain ingredients (some menu items suffer more so then others like the orange chicken). At the expense of the customers without disclosure of this major change and its just really disappointing and upsetting because to me that change means that item is not worth purchasing anymore.

Tonkutsu is a garbage 🤮
A+ crab rangoon!
Had a delicious meal, great service, and calm atmosphere at YATAI. We are vegetarian leaning and there were plenty of options. It was clear to us that the food was freshly made. (Nothing wilty or overcooked.) Will totally go back when we are looking for Asian influenced cuisine with lots of options.
I LOVE this place. I graduate in 2 months and i’m going to miss this restaurant more than anything else in Chicago. My friends and I go here at least every 2 weeks and that’s under-estimating. Best Asian fusion in roger’s park by far and it’s so affordable with great portions. BYOB and they give you glasses and a bottle cooler as soon as you sit down. We have tried almost everything on their menu and my favorite items have to be the fried gyoza, edamame, chicken wings, egg rolls, and the avocado roll for appetizers and for mains I am obsessed with the chicken teriyaki rice bowl, the pad see ew, and the panag curry. They also have cute dessert teas that they offer if you come in for a birthday. Lots of people order online and do pickup - which is totally fine but if you go to dine in it’s an adorable place with beautiful ambiance and unique dishes plus amazing service!
Worst customer service. Staff doesn’t speak English and does not understand also very arrogant..! I even saw them treating delivery guys very bad…! No respect ! Kitchen can be seen from side looks very dirty I stopped and left after ordering food god know how they cook . Not going there again . Guy make sure you check food before eating
