DELICIOSO!!!!!?Ordered the pork tamale dinner with red mole sauce and the chicken tamale with green mole sauce. The pork was a lot more tender than the chicken and it also had more flavor. Both tamales were great but we preferred the pork. The red Mole sauce has a very deep rich smokey like flavor and just a subtle sweetness to it not sweet at all really, very subtle. The green mole sauce is definitely a little bit more bright and citrusy in flavor probably from the tomatillos and it was delicious and our favorite of the two. Will definitely be coming back for the pork tamales with the green mole sauce. For just the tamale with sauce is 8 bucks but if you get the dinner for $12 you get rice and beans. Great portion! Have no pictures to share because we devoured it right away. ?We also tried their kale aqua fresca, and it tasted more like a fresh green apple refresher! Still refreshing.Customer service was friendly, place was clean and inviting.Hard to find parking along Halsted but we were able to snag a spot right in front on a Sunday afternoon. Will be returning and highly recommend!

This place is such a hidden gem! They have THE BEST tamales and I drive about an hour to get them everytime! There is literally no place that I’ve found that has the soft and flavorful masa and the most delicious mole in this entire area! They know what they’re doing and I’m addicted! Can’t wait to return!!

Delicious homemade tamales. I love the spicy chipotle chicken tamales. They have vegan options. Looks like the MASA is made without pork, so it’s not as flavorful as most tamales but still delicious. Very friendly

Tamal (green chicken, green mole) was good. Horchata was way, way, way too sweet though. Had also strange coconut cream flavor and left a filmy taste in my mouth. Go for the tamales, not the horchata.

Consistently excellent tamales! Oxacan style tamales are not easy to find, and besides the usual meat options, Yvolina's has several creative tamales: eggplant, quinoa...The food is crazy fresh, and they have jars of homemade moles that you can tote home with you. This place has been around for awhile - they were there when I lived in Pilsen nearly a decade ago - and it is a family run operation. There is a reason why they have won so many awards!

I tried the mole rojo and mole verde tamales de pollo. I thought the moles themselves were tasty but the masa and chicken were pretty bland. Would definitely ask for extra mole to compensate next time. The texture of the masa was good though, not dry at all.

Having gone to the tamale festival in Pilsen, I have tried every major tamale restaurant in Chicago. Yvolina's is by far my favorite. There's no skimping on the filling. The tamales are huge and so good I stuffed myself silly. They sell out of popular ones by the end of the day, so don't wait until just before close. They close early at 6pm (5pm on Sundays), so leave work early. Only street parking so you might have to walk a bit. -Pilsen gets congested like every Chicago neighborhood. Worth any walking. Besides, you can walk off that huge plate of food when you return to your car.

This is my second visit with a large group, and again found the food and service excellent. The decor is cheerful and vibrant, the food delicious, the staff welcoming and attentive.

Great tamales and award-winning mole. Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free and safe for coeliac's (but always double check). Reasonably priced and large portions. A variety of meat, veggie and vegan tamales daily- get there early before they sell out. You can dine in or take out and they do great reliable catering too.

I love this place for the gourmet tamales. I enjoy the chicken green or red with the red mole on top. I found this place some years ago at a taco & tamale festival in Pilsen. Delicious tamales that are hearty!
