It’s called Mama K’s now! Owned by (I believe) former employees of the Zanzibar owner who moved away. Same excellent ice cream as before and don’t miss Mama’s Brownie!

Good mochas and ice cream. Only reason not 5 stars? Baked goods are usually really dry. Great atmosphere though and friendly staff.

First time trying this place in Edgewater which I was born, and this place is a paradise and I highly recommend everybody to come here and try it. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Excellent food and excellent staff. I was sad when Zanzibar closed, thinking the staff would be gone... nope! It was actually bought by the staff and now run by them. One of my favorites!

Coffee selection has multiple types of milk (I enjoyed an Oatmilk Mocha Latte was was scrumptious). The variety of pastries and desserts is impressive ranging from sweet to savory, all made from scratch.

Great place for a cozy cup of coffee and cream. The ambiance was almost as tasteful as that alliteration. Seriously tho great spot with great people.

I live in the neighborhood and this is one of my favorite little cafes. Reasonably priced, delicious, and friendly staff to take care of you while you dine.

Mama K's is such a great place! The service is always prompt and attentive. The workers are all very sweet and professional. The menu has several items for everyone and the prices are reasonable for a coffee shop. They have a wide variety of sweets, pastries, sandwiches, and salads. Everything is fresh and delicious! They also have vegetarian and vegan options! Additionally, they carry "chocolate shoppe" ice cream and other cakes and treats. There is a lot of seating space and the background music is great too. I would definitely recommend supporting this local business over the starbucks down the street. They're amazing!!

I'm in rehearsals right next to Mama Ks and love their sandwiches. I ordered the grilled cheese with turkey and after I got back to rehearsal realized they forgot to put the turkey in it. I called them and they brought the turkey to the building next-door and up to the third-floor for free. Super nice guys! Looking forward to my sandwich next weekend.

What a lovely addition to the neighborhood! For those who are local to the area, you'll notice the Bryn Mawr hosts plenty of restaurants, but there's plenty of opportunity to bring more to our little pocket on the North Side. Mama K (whoever she is) definitely capitalized on a hot corner just a block or so away from the red line stop. So if you're just coming home from work, the beach or want somewhere to just grab a quick cup of coffee on a Sunday morning, Mama K is there to serve. Her (because I totally believe Mama K is real in some respect) menu offers everything from savory paninis to "made from scratch" sweet things to delicious ice cream options. Apparently she has vegan scones? Gotta try those out sometime. The service is also top notch. You can tell these people really take pride in serving their lovely customers, such as myself, and feeding Edgewater one person at a time. Keep on keeping on, Mama K!

Everything gets high marks here (food, cleanliness, service, ambiance) but most of all, these folks know how to scoop! They have a rich-and-delicious ice cream supplier and a generous portion size. (That being said, the other desserts are good too--today we brought home a Peach Delight for later--but my heart always belongs to ice cream.) Kudos to this family-run business!

Absolutely love the sandwiches here. The other day I had a spinach pastry pie and it was the best I have ever had and I am including my trip to Greece in that assessment. They also make a Mediterranean dessert that looks like a A peach with glitter on it and it's to die for. It's like a peach in drag and I am living for it.
