It was our first time visiting. We went for our Anniversary. Our waiter Chris was excellent. Food was fantastic. We will definitely visit again!
Fantastic! Great food OUTSTANDING service!!! One of the best experiences we have had in a long time!
Amazing. We have been coming here for 25+ years. Chris was an awesome waiter. Hannah too. The food was amazing as always.
We spent over 200.00 there- price of all is higher than the norm which we are ok with. I ordered the scallops which I only do if I want to treat myself. THIS was not a treat. I honestly can't believe this is what they served. 4 small scallops served on something that was a spinach mush but ok. The scallops themselves were unbelievably small which I'm still ok with but the prep was what I would expect from a trough and brew. TERRIBLE. I ate 2 of the 4 and gave 1 to my wife who agreed that this was not a scallop. let the waitress take the 4 back. I also took a pic of the ceasar salad my wife had. REALLY- browned lettuce and NOT fresh. Sorry but I wont ever go back.
Went there for a birthday dinner and the dinner was delicious and the restaurant was beautiful. Perfect place for any special occasion or just looking for a great steak
Food was editable but wasn't close to the price point. In total we spent 100 dollars per plate and the food was ponderosa buffet quality. 15 dollars for Calamari appetizer, very chewy! Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes appetizer, good but I have made better with a can of crab meat from Walmart. I ordered a 10oz Felet, Rare cook. One of the EASIEST cuts to cook rare. Nope, it was medium. My wife ordered the ribeye, Medium.... Nope it was Rare. How can you mess up a medium cook on a thin ribeye? For dessert, we wanted the carrot cake. Server informed us that it was stone cold and hard, recommended we order the 7-layer chocolate cake. So horrible we asked for it to be removed from out bill. It seems the only reason this restaurant is open is because it's in a hotel and the majority of patrons are from out of town and don't know better. Locals can't possibly be paying these prices for low quality food and coming back.
The steak was not impressive at all. New York Strip. Didn't even look like it normally does! Out of baked potatoes by 630. Appetizers were excellent as usual. The soup was delicious. Based on the price and quality of the steak dinner it was rather disappointing. We shared a piece of the carrot cake! Beyond amazing. After dropping 400.00 dollars I think I will be going somewhere else for a steak! Maybe I'll come in for drinks in the bar and appetizers. I did enjoy the bar before dinner! Expresso and Old Fashions.
Porters is one of the finest, yet most under-rated steakhouses in the St. Louis area. People forget about it because it's on the "east side", but I've never been disappointed. If you haven't tried it, take that short drive across the bridge and check it out.
It was an unexpected surprise from start to finish. When we got there we had a corner booth and a wonderful waitress who recommended a very nice Riesling that had a great tart apple punch that went really well with their house salad. The salad had goat cheese and a house dressing that was not creamy and definitely not a heavy oil. It was really tasty and we both enjoyed it. The split it at no extra cost also.
Then we had crab cakes (lump) these were tangy and flavorful. I think they should have been served with a bit of toast or cracker but that is just me and they were well worth it.
We had their famous Pepperloin steak with baked potato and we also got the pan roasted chicken with baked potato and broccoli. Everything was perfect. The chicken was savory with a very lite sauce and as moist as it could be. The steak was medium rare and it was cooked a bit in the rare side in my opinion BUT that is okay with me as I usually get rare. The steak was served with its own sauce on the side. This sauce was as very lite and mild but was almost a mustard tangy and it worked so well with the steak. I was very impressed with the service as well. I recommend and will go back. Also this restaurant is attached to the Doubletree Hotel in Collinsville , IL. If you stay at the Doubletree Hotel you have to go to Porter’s!

We had such a wonderful time for my birthday. Chris did everything to make it feel personable and special and catered specifically to our family. He made my son feel special. He made my parents and my brother and sisters feel great and just knew how to put the icing on the cake at the end and someone smile food was amazing. The ambience is always great. We will be back.

Best steak I’ve ever eaten, and great service
Food was decent enough. Our service was good enough, but the server waiting on the next table over was very loud and obnoxious. We could barely carry on a conversation at our table at a normal volume, due to how loud and unprofessional this server was. It's unfortunate, because it really ruined the whole experience.

So I take my family here for my mother’s birthday and we are a party of 8, Ive never been here before and was recommended the lamb chops. The chef advised that medium was the best way to have it(btw I was already gonna ask for that), but the first set of chops were burnt and overcooked. Even the waitress noticed and agreed to re make my entree MEDIUM, 20 minutes later I am brought raw bloody meat. The waitress audibly gasped when they saw my plate and immediately took it back to the kitchen, another 10-15 minutes go by and i am brought more raw protein so i decided to just take it home and cook it myself. To have paid an over 600 dollars check and then need to cook my own food at home is absolutely ridiculous . I do not recommend nor will me or my family members come back. P.S. The picture is the last set they brought out that had to be cooked at home in case y'all don’t believe me
