Family oriented restaurant with delivery available try it out and see if you like it! Great for special date night or family night
They never answer the phone and I’ve showed up two times too many to this establishment when the open sign is lit up and the door is locked. It is very bad for business to never be open during your hours of business. I recommend everyone just go to Surf’s up in romeoville for wings and mild sauce. Really disappointed in this black owned establishment.
Well flavored & made to order (hot) ALL THE TIME!!!!?
How are they closed and the sign says 10pm. I just did a pickup order online and I got charged right away and for them to not be open. On top of all that the number given in the website is not in service. How are you taking orders and money and be physically closed it doesn't make sense to me. Just wasted my time and my money. With it being my first time trying this place I'm sure I'm never going to try this place ever. What a great first time experience.
Finally got to try this place as we live close by,I love chicken wings and fried fishI was very happy.Wings where good size and breading was perfectly fried,I had hot sauce on mine which really was not hot ( warm) Very authentic with bread served with it.The fries could have been cooked longer. The cole slaw was very good but small in size.I really enjoy southern cooking and this was it.The gentleman behind counter was very helpful and and eager to help. The store was clean.I hope this place does well as it has all the good qualities I like.We will stop again soon.
The chicken, fish and shrimp are hand breaded and made to order. Everything was fresh and hot! I ate at the Crest Hill location! I will be going back! ???
On their website they have their Friday - Saturday hours. It says 10am - 12am, I drove 40 minutes to get to this place just for them to be closed. On your door it has the same hours. So why aren’t you guys open. Ridiculous. Will not be coming back here.
Great service and respectful each time I visit. I look forward to the next visit.
In our quest to discover the best fried chicken in Chicago, my wife and I did a lot of eating and a lot of research. One thing we learned is Harold's Chicken Shack is a Chicago original. Harold Pierce, an African-American entrepreneur, and his wife Hilda founded the restaurant in 1950 as a small operation on 39th Street on Chicago's South Side. It was called H&H in those early days and specialized in dumplings and chicken feet, both common soul food. Eventually, it became one of the few examples of a thriving fast food chain that was owned by and principally served the black community. Today, Harold's has more than 40 locations in Chicago and vicinity, including the flagship at 124 East 35th Street. We sampled the chicken and takeout service at 612 South Wabash and 1501 West Madison in the West Loop, near United Center. In case you haven't compared Harold's chicken to KFC or Popeye's or Brown's Chicken, Harold's is different in two ways--(1) it is cooked in a mix of half beef tallow and half vegetable oil, which provides taste closer to the traditional fried chicken of the American South, while most chains use only vegetable oil and (2) Harold's chicken isn't fried until it is ordered while some chains fry their chicken in large batches and store it on warming racks until it is purchased. I ordered a 1/2 white chicken dinner, two wings and two breasts with fries, cole slaw and bread. My wife opted for an eight-piece chicken tender dinner with fries, cole slaw and bread.
Even though I was told by a customer from the day before, that he got some untasty wings, I decided to try it myself. I was happily please and glad I did. The wings were fresh, hot, and tasty. I like the tangy sauce and would add my own heat to that sauce in the future (but that's because I like a lot of heat). I look forward to returning. Well done Mr Manager!

The chicken was very good and a nice size. They weren’t small at all, the owner was very nice and accommodating. I will be returning and telling others.
The chicken was good but the wings were very, very small!!! It was $9.95 for 8 wings. Not worth the money! The fries need alot of work also. We also tried the shrimp. They were big & a little spicy, which I liked, but still not worth the amount of money, $9.75 for 6 shrimp! All in all, we would go back for the wings but they would need to be on a day that they had a 1/2 price sale. We had 8 wings & 6 shrimp for $20 bucks & it didn't fill 2 people up. They need bigger wings or a cheaper price!
First time trying and the batter on the fish did not taste good. The chicken taste like it was fried in old grease. We were given a buzzer to notify us when our order would be ready, however it never went off. Fries need a lot of work.
Not a place to stop for a quick bite. 25 min wait to get 6 wings. Very poor slow service fir the amount of items they offer
Ok people stop lying about this chicken. Maybe 1st day they opened but i went 2/13/21 on a FRIDAY at 2:30 in the day and I thought they were closed but still ordered chicken which took 25 minutes and the chicken was NOT HOT and was dried out and fries were NOT HOT and mind you i ALWAYS open my food right away. I guarantee they will be out of business with that WATER DOWN BBQ SAUCE.... STOP PLAYING
