Went to Merichka's Restaurant with friends today, and it's the first time I ever had the Po Boy with the complete garlic butterine. I've had other great dinners here, but was always a bit leery about the complete garlic butterine--but I'm happy to report that the sandwich was simply terrific. The beef was extremely tender, the bread tasty and crunchy and it had the perfect amount of garlic butterine. I now know why so many people eat the Po Boy at Merichka's...
I was a little disappointed. I thought it was an ethnic type of restaurant. However, it was more of an American cuisine. Don't get me wrong, the food was good tasting. The place was clean and the service was great.
A Joliet/Crest Hill staple - opened in the 1930's
Nothing fancy, and in the 25 years I've been visiting, it hasn't been updated (not that it's a bad thing, if it ain't broke, don't fix-it).
Their signature Poor Boy is a large sandwich, but at $14, kinda hard to justify the cost for seasoned ground beef on a piece of French Bread
Food is plentiful, tasty, and served quickly
