We arrived early 5:30 with no reservations and got seated fairly quickly.. i ordered the seafood platter and chose calamari & shrimp.. the chef was exceptional at grilling everything to perfection, seasoning, and entertaining each and everyone at the table. It was an experience to be remembered.
My food was abundant and came out perfectly grilled and seasoned. It comes with soup, salad and even ice cream after words. I ate everything!!
Despite the slightly higher price points than the average dining experience it was well worth it. I would do it again especially for special occasions.
Thank you to our chef for enjoying what he does and sharing his talent with us ?

Beware of ordering to go on the weekends. Takes longer than they say and they will forget items even if you order online. They should turn off online ordering if they’re too overwhelmed.

One of my big issues with performance geared restaurants like this is that I often find myself with someone performing who doesn't seem interested in what they're doing and feels they are just going through the motions. This is completely different than the experience I had at Kyoto. My partner and I attended for a date night and it was a blast. The food was delicious, our chef was incredible and a pleasure to speak with and get to know while he cooked, and the sushi and golden shrimp were to die for!

We’ve been to Kyoto multiple times now. Each time, the food is delicious and the service is awesome. Last night, we had Cesar as our chef, and he did a great job performing and making it a great experience!

My family went to Kyoto for mom's birthday because she thinks this restaurant is better than the Hoffman Estates location and any other Japanese steakhouse she has been to. I have been to all the same Japanese steakhouse restaurants but I disagree. I was not impressed.
For starters, I brought in a cake I had made myself to serve after dinner, but the servers would not allow me to serve it. They said there was a no outside food policy. That's ridiculous. That should only apply to the meal. We spent a lot of money on our meals. Everyone ordered a meal. This is something extra that doesn't affect what we would order. It was a group of five of us, averaging $30-40 a meal. That's a lot of nerve. All other restaurants I have done this at was very nice and accommodating when I bring in a cake. My daughter informed me later that one of the servers said it is only allowed on a weeknight. The waiters I asked didn't even bother to explain that. However, that still isn't right, especially if we were there on a different night.
The chef did all the tricks and made a nice performance. Most of the food was good except the vegetables. Normally that is done very well. After all, it's a basic. The squash was overcooked and mushy and the vegetables weren't seasoned very well. Also, my brother ordered hibachi chicken and they served him teriyaki chicken.
I don't understand why my mom is so impressed with this restaurant. Personally, I don't recommend Kyoto. I would only return for my mom but otherwise not. They don't deserve the business after the way they treated us.

We went there for fathers day with my husband and our daughter 40 minutes before closing , and the staff was extremely friendly with us. They even entertained our daughter for some time so we could enjoy our food ❤️ Sushi was great too.
