We were there on Sunday 7/27 around 5p. It was so hot inside it was like the AC was broken (no explanation or apology from staff). We were seated right away and provided with drinks and popcorn and peanuts. Our meals came pretty fast and were just "ok". after that, our server came back after about 5 mins to check on us never to return. We had empty drinks, no water. Our table was ready to be bussed. I got up and got my own to go box and found a busser to find our server and send her over. We saw her around the restaurant chatting with staff or attending to others but we were invisible. Terrible service!!!

Disappointed ☹️ the drinks had a horrible musty aftertaste. I didn’t drink my pop or water. My sandwich was OK, so was the wrap my daughter got. The staff was nice enough but not overly attentive. But overall…it was not a place I would recommend or return to when there are so many options.

Great local watering hole in Downtown Crystal Lake. Have yet to be disappointed with any meal I've tried at the Cottage . It's definitely worth a try and if you're looking for a very comfortable tavern with very good food, this is the place you will want to try. Pizza, burgers, prime rib sandwiches are all good

Melinda is absolutely the most disrespectful manager. She made it known she came into work on her day off and wouldn’t help any of the staff or patrons and talked down to her staff. She created a very negative environment and the only reason I’ll be back is for the staff and food.

Love the cottage, come in here and there but this time, MELINDA. The worst of the worst as a human being. Utterly un called for treatment of her staff. I’d be embarrassed if I was the owner to have this “person” represent me. Putting down of employees, and making a customer feel awkward over a spilled beverage, since it’s beneath her. Hard to support knowing she’s in charge.
Was sitting at the bar and a gentleman spilled his drink. The manager came by and stated to the gentleman, “I’m not sure why you’re flagging me down when I’m clearly not wearing any work clothes.” Does nothing to help the man, then proceeded to berate the bartender and server in front of customers. Very disrespectful to the hard working employees they have.
