The Original Rainbow Cone - Darien

I enjoy getting an original rainbow cone and I'm thankful there are more locations to enjoy them. We accidentally discovered they have a junior size cone which provides just as much flavor and the (required) obligatory drip(s) on my shirt and pants despite my efforts otherwise. They currently offer the Jr size for a buck off on Tuesday making the trip less costly.
I'd suggest a trip to the original Rainbow Cone at 92nd and Western for the true experience. Walk in, stand in line and sit at the tables out back. The original location is on my personal list of Chicago favorites. Thankfully they no longer close in the off-season...

Delicious Ice cream

A Chicago classic dessert. The patio is colorful, inviting and fun.

Not much of an ice cream place. We went for a waffle cone and a milkshake. They were out of waffle cones, and don't make milkshakes. Ice cream was ok, I think they are counting on nostalgia to sell a pretty average product.

Ice cream is good. There are many flavors, and for freshness I give them 4 stars.
It's almost like a tourist destination here. Tons of people on tje weekends. Other locations are built inside a Buena beef so they're not as well known in the suburbs. This location is a standalone store.

Kinda disappointing

We had Abigail ring us up, and she was awesome. She saw us struggling with taking a picture with our kids and offered to help. Kindness goes a very long way, and Abigail was awesome

Kid-friendliness: They had a really nice fenced in are and padded seats at the picnic table that's wonderful for children. They also had the inserts for cones so the kids didn't get ice cream everywhere.

We go here on warm summer nights for rainbow cones. Just delicious. I grew up going to the location along the Dan Ryan on the south side and the quality of the ice cream is a spot on match here. Highly recommend.

Very expensive

Had the Rainbow Cone for the 1st time and loved it. Got it in a waffle cone. We sat outside on their patio and enjoyed the dessert!
