On the way home from Champaign we (the wife & I) decided we wanted to put gas in the van, so we consulted GasBuddy app. It sent us to the nearby County/Harvest Market. Opened the map portion and saw that Tandoori Express was nearby and had a 4.9 star rating. We've learned over the years to pay attention when any restaurant has a high rating. So we pulled up the reviews and menu and looked what we saw, so we ordered online for pickup in a half hour. Food was ready in 20 minutes. Tom it home and dove in. Excellent Indian, SO GOOD! Some of the best we've ever had anywhere. Will definitely stop by again and recommend to friends!
We picked up a delicious supper on a rainy drive home from Champaign to Springfield. Our chicken jalfrezi had big tender chunks of chicken in an amazing spicy but mild sauce. The palak paneer was delicious and comforting. Fragrant spiced rice and rosemary naan rounded out this delightful meal. We had ordered online and it was ready sooner than expected. Heavenly aromas welcomed us as we entered for pickup. We'll be back!

We had a great experience, the food and service exceeded all expectations! I honestly believe that you could close your eyes and point to an item on the menu and never be disappointed! We will be customers for life!
Much better date spot than the other Indian restaurants in town, given the thoughtful decor these owners have added. This comfortable restaurant has authentic, fresh flavors, and they use even less oil than Rasoi Indian Food. Their approach to "clean" cooking (less oils) makes it easy to experience depth of spices and authentic Indian flavors with a choice of spiciness level; they dial everything in perfectly. Medium spiciness was great for everyone at our table, and we also loves the dal makhani (lentil) and palak paneer (spinach) were excellent. They let us bring our own wine for dinner. Their kindness is a rare find in town, and they even stayed later to make additional sides when our table grew hungrier for more garlic naan. Our host was previously an Uber driver, then a truck driver, and then decided to open a restaurant so he could spend more time with his kids while taking them to the Scovill Zoo and nearby water park. They are making Decatur their home and have been around for about a year in our community. I'd highly recommend getting to know them and their food, as they are truly great neighbors to have in town, with kind hearts and gracious service.

Absolutely the best Indian food in the area. We drive from Lincoln to come here and have never been disappointed! Solid, fresh, and well-balanced complex flavors you can tell are prepared for you when you order and are not just sitting around. The rice itself is well seasoned and never bland or clumpy.
The butter Naan is fabulous and flaked with a loose pastry like consistency. All of the breads are cooked perfectly and come out warm and delicious ?
We always eat in the small cozy dining room and have lovely attentive but not overbearing service, and we feel genuinely welcome each time we dine with them. There's low-key Indian music videos playing on the TV and they give an exotic touch to the atmosphere (which is tastefully done and even extends to the clean and nicely decorated restroom).
Now that we have found Tandoori Express, we've been back three times over the past month and plan on returning frequently. I've included photos from multiple meals, so please do yourself a favor and stop by to try them out soon - see you there!

They were very nice and professional. The food was absolutely amazing. He was patiently explaining what was in the different dishes on the menu. We ordered medium spiced, next time we're going to bump it up a notch for a little extra heat.
Tandoori Express offers the best Indian food that I have ever had. The staff is not only friendly but also very helpful when it comes to suggesting menu items to try. I have dined in and done take out on multiple occasions. The atmosphere feels modern, cozy, and very welcoming.
