This place is SO MUCH MORE than you'd expect from its exterior. The food was excellent. I brought a pretty persnickety chef with me and he was wowed by their seafood. My sister insists they have the best chicken livers in the Midwest.

We had quit going to The Wharf several years ago, it was dirty and the crowd was very noisy and sometimes very crude. Learned a new owner had remolded and we wanted to give it a try. We had gone on a couple of Fridays to have the fried cod, which we both enjoyed. Our last trip there, which will be our "last" trip, was not as enjoyable. Sign says "wait to be seated", so when the owner said we could sit at seats next to the fireplace, we could see an empty table that we'd rather sit at. The owner then said she saves the tables, with 4 seats and for us to sit at the table with two seats, which is right next to another same size table, literally on top of each other. I told my wife lets go, she said that maybe no one would sit next to us, but that plan dissolved almost immediately. A younger man, soon joined by a woman sat at the table. They both work at Tillamook, which I'm certain they don't mind me mentioning, as both talked loud enough for almost all to hear. The man complained and griped about his job incessantly, nonstop. It was a miserable experience, and then coupled with the catfish that was grossly under cooked, made matters worse. Catfish, by way, because they had no cod, actually didn't offer a fish special, which is odd for a town that has a very large Catholic presence. As soon as we arrived home, had to remove our clothing, straight to the washer, as it smelled like we had worked the fryer that evening. All the time wishing that I had followed my original thought, let's get out of here.
We have eaten there 3 times & the food was good. Last weekend the weather was beautiful so we asked for the patio. Unfortunately the patio is nothing more than an alley with a fence around it & weeds growing up. After being parked out there with no drinks & waiting for a good 20 minutes we went inside. We witnessed the manager talking down to employees, & being rude to customers so we ended up leaving. With the right management & cleaning the place up a little it could be a nice little place with good food & a nice selection of beer on tap.

I absolutely love The Wharf! I have been here many times over the years and the food always knocks it out of the water. I love the decor and atmosphere and especially the outdoor seating. Everything here is just great. Highly recommend.

Restaurantji Recommends
Visited from out of town. When we pulled up you could smell fried food, but we figured there were other restaurants around too.
When we went inside there was a cloud of fried grease smoke along the ceiling and it reeked of fried grease. We asked to sit at the bar and the lady said “it’ll take awhile to get to you, but you’re welcome to stay”. So we left. The smell was burned into our nostrils for like 10 mins afterwards. I’m shocked this place has good reviews.
The waitress is very friendly and kind.. shows patience with my elderly mother as she was indecisive on what she wanted.. explained the food. Got our appetizers super quick and are delicious definitely worth it amd highly recommended

I used to come here with my parents back in the 90's, and it was awesome! (But).....We went there tonight for dinner and were seated right away, received our drinks and appetizers..... then we waited for 30 minutes for a fish sandwich, and a breaded tenderloin that never came. We paid for our appetizers and left without our sandwiches and no apology from any of the staff. We will never return, or recommend this place to anyone! The wait time for food is ridiculous!!

Had the chicken liver appetizer (wonderful), the catfish sandwich, and the bourbon horseshoe with hamburger (all wonderful). The bourbon horseshoe was especially good. Never had the combination before so I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful flavors! We would go back in a heartbeat! We took or fur babies and sat on the patio. Also had drinks so that added to the bill.
