Gary is awesome and the food is just as good! The BBQ sauce on the pulled pork is some of the best I’ve ever had and the Fried bologna was super too. He even brought out some lemon pepper catfish to try and it was great too and I hate fish! Awesome place to grab a bite before the show at the Devon.

Do not waste your time or money. I placed an online order after which I was called by the business and told they didn’t have that food on the menu today and they were refunding my money. After waiting an hour to get my money refunded, I called to ask where my refund was only to be told They were busy and they would refund my funds “when we’re ready to”. So I go there to get my money, because my family is in need of dinner after experiencing a family emergency, there were no customers around. I was aKai accused of being drunk by management , if I could submit the screenshots of them taking my money and then placing a HOLD on my card after telling me they refunded it, I would.
I also deliver for Doordaah & have had similar issues in the past with them fulfilling those orders as well. I’ve heard the owner curse & yell about how he refuses ANY online orders, yet they have online ordering available?
I will be reporting them to the federal trade commission and to the Better Business Bureau for false advertisement and theft of goods.
This is the unfortunate character the owner has become. Terrible former landlord made into a terrible business owner, that’s Decatur for you.
Update to last review: next day, my credit card company has contacted me & let me know that Waterfront Cafe has STILL not refunded my money or released the hold on my card. In the event my money or the hold on my card is not reversed, I will be contacting my attorney Monday morning & starting a civil lawsuit. If you have a business & can’t provide the appropriate services please don’t be disgruntle & take it out on the customers because you or your business for whatever reasons don’t or cannot adequately provide the services you advertise. Last & final update: we are now 3 days into this & my money has STILL NOT been refunded for an order we never received. I regretfully used to know & be friends with the owner before he owned this business, shame what being a business owner has done to such a sweet man ?

We had great service. The food was fast, hot and delicious. The owner was personable and super attentive. He reminded me of my dad who is also a small business owner. We will be back next time we go to the zoo.

Found this place about 5 minutes away from the zoo and my kid asked to try fish for the first time. We got the walleye, fries and slaw and it was really really yummy and filling!! He loved it! The service was top tier & very welcoming. Definitely will be back when we visit Decatur again!!!

In town for a concert at the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater and stopped in to get something to eat. The food was great! Hot, fresh, made to order: I had the butterfly shrimp and catfish dinned, both were excellent!
If u are into "dive" restaurants, places with great good, good prices and "character" and a friendly staff, stop in and get something to eat...
Original mom pops food with custom branded BBQ Ribs. The Catfish is fantastic. A bit salty for me . Kids love the snacks that are affordable just to drop in on way to lake. They have poker machines if just wanting to pass some time. Even saw a 3k winner there before. The owner and his staff are very welcoming delivering a family like atmosphere.
Kid-friendliness: Welcomes neighborhood kids and remembers them. Kids beg Togo back and visit.
We frequent this cafe often. The owner is always very friendly and the food is great. It is our go to place on Friday night. As the weather gets warmer we are sure the number of customers will become greater. We may need to pick a different day.
