Hugo's Frog Bar & Chop House

Celebrated my husband’s birthday here and had a great time! We were pleasantly surprised at how good the service and food was considering it’s inside Rivers Casino.

We had the crab cake and lobster bisque as appetizers - both very good. The Chilean sea bass was absolutely delicious, and I know my husband enjoyed the char on his 14 oz filet. We always get the crème brûlée if we see it’s on a menu, and this one was huge (could feed up to four people)! Only wish they’d add some fresh fruit on top or on the side to help cut the sweetness since it can be a lot for two.

Overall, we had a great experience. Service was quick and attentive. The manager even came up to our table to greet us. We plan to visit again!

My husband and I dined at Hugo's prior to a concert. The food was fantastic and our server, Scott, was absolutely great! The manager, Jason, stopped by our table and inquired about our dining experience, and chatted about the concert venue and previous concerts. We found him very personable and It was very nice chatting with him. Overall it was a very rewarding night out for us starting with the wonderful dinner and followed up by a very enjoyable concert!

Despite the casino's shortcomings, Hugo's exceeded expectations. The delectable frog legs are an absolute must-try, while the exceptional salmon pairs perfectly with the highly recommended twice-baked potatoes. The service provided was nothing short of outstanding.

Oh, my goodness! Jason was awesome as was Rosie and Sam! We had the best time and best food and lots of leftovers. My family member is often at the casino so the treated the four of us to a fantastic dinner. Can't wait to visit again!

Had dinner with my daughter and had the crab and avocado appetizer. Very good as usual and one of my favorites but had not been there in a few years. Definitely about half the size as a couple years ago. We both had the 10oz filet and was a good filet and tender but both my daughter and I thought they were dipped in salt. I enjoy salt on my food probably too much and for me to say a bit salty is very rare. Again a good steak kind of overdone on salt. Had mushroom side and Brussels sprouts, both good as usual but again no doubt about half the size as before. The only big negative is atmosphere, I do not think they have updated their space in many years and is starting to show. We sat in a booth where the seats were showing their wear and tear. This is not a cheap place to eat and think you would expect that the tables and booths and space would always be top notch. Not the case right now. Basically the decor really looked tired and I am guessing has not been updated or repaired since they opened a long time ago. Server was very good and no issues with service.

We have started a tradition of celebrating birthdays at Hugo's. The fish and seafood are always excellent, and the sides are also well prepared. We top off dinner with a piece of carrot which is enormous, Each serving is 1/4 of the cake and is easily 7-8 inches high; we all end up taking some home and finishing it over the next week.

Over the years we've eaten here many times never have had a bad meal we're greeted as we walk in the door. My name and the waitress are always punctual and seen her every name. The food is fantastic from hors d'oeuvres through salads, main courses and desserts. We can find nothing really wrong with this restaurant, but as you can, explain prices have gone up

We've been patrons since the summer of 2011. The wait staff is always excellent, whomever is doing the training is doing a great job. The food is always consistent and prepared perfectly.

Good soft and greasy and salty fries.

The steak was chewy and tough even though ordered medium rare.
Crab cakes were meh, same for the key lime pie.

The desserts are huge. Might need four people to eat one.

We decided to try this diner out because we were thinking of going to Gibsons but I didn’t feel like getting dressed up. This restaurant has amazing dining my husband and I both had the 10 ounce fillet. We both had Caesar salads and were plenty with that. The 10 ounce was cooked to our liking with an amazing chair on the outside, we had heard great things about Their lemon meringue and decided to take one to go let me just start by saying the slice was like a piece of pie just by itself. It was very healthy serving, and the meringue was over the top. I have never in my life. (50 years) Had such an amazing textured and flavorfully Fluffy meringue. The custard portion was so rich and the handmaid crossed was delectable. Still snacking on the next morning. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I had the filet.. the worst filet ever. Fatty and tough! How? I don’t even think it was choice grade beef. Forget about prime.
Spinach was drenched in so much oil it was inedible.
How can they ruin a baked potato? Well start with an old dried out potato.
I think they have cut way back because most patrons pay with points from casino and no one should pay cash for this.

EVERYTHING was great only thing missing was a belly rub lol

Based on the reviews and having been to Chicago many times, I was expecting an amazing dining experience. This restaurant did not deliver. While the ribeye was good, I have had much better ribeye at this price point. The rest of the meal was very underwhelming, from the overcooked and unimpressive brussel sprouts, to the tasteless cheesecake. They will tell you that all of their desserts are giant so they justify the prices, but who wants a giant piece of not great cake? I got the cheesecake which had almost no flavor, leading me to abandon 90% of it even though I really hate to waste food. Based on the recommendations I am truly disappointed.

I come here every time I visit Rivers. The crab cake appetizer is amazing with the spicy pink mayo, I like to pair it with a salad.
