First time here, definitely will be returning. The food was very flavorful, staff took time to explain the menu, and very nice atmosphere. Such a great experience. Carmelo was awesome!!

Not many good cuban food places in the area so I was super excited to discover a jibarito place somewhat close to me. I ordered by phone, was given a 10 minute waiting time and made it to the restaurant past the time given. But still had to wait almost another 10 minutes. While waiting I noticed there wasn't a single table clean and there were a few emtpy but not a deal breaker for me.Finally received my order, headed home with anticipation and lost of hunger. But to my surprise only one sandwich was packaged so I called to report the issue. I explained what happened and was asked to return for the second sandwich. Given that I don't live around the corner I explained this and requested a refund for the missing sandwich. Unfortunately the cook would not agree and insisted on an I.O.U. At this point I said nevermind, keep the money I just won't be returning.Still excited about the sandwich we did get and the garlic smell had my mouth watering uncomfortably I couldn't wait to take a bite. Opened the container and was a bit disappointed how messy it appeared, nothing like what I've had at other Puerto Rican establishments. Nonetheless, i gave half the jabarito to my son and ketp the other half for myself. But oh my god, that garlic smell still had me going so I took a huge bite and to my surprise it tasted blan. How???? Sad to say, even the empanadas weren't far behind.Unfortunately the only thing good on that jabarito was the garlic spread. Now I'm one that's always up for giving second chances to everyone. But with the missing sandwich and the unexpected blan taste that's already much for me to ever want to return. This place has potential. I'm just not sure they will make the needed changes to please the customer.I truley hope they do. ?

Moving from the city to the suburbs was a big adjustment for my boyfriend and I, so I was happy to see there was a Puerto Rican restaurant not that far from me. I’m Puerto Rican myself and was born and raised in the Humboldt Park area, so I’ve grown accustomed a bit to being able to get Puerto Rican food quick and affordable. So imagine my surprise when I go to order from there and unlike most PR restaurants, they don’t have the stands with alcapurrias, carne frita, etc. Okay, I guess. My boyfriend and I opted for jibarito’s than. $14 for one and than an extra $2 for GARLIC. I’ve never been charged for GARLIC too? Isn’t that something you just naturally put on? That’s like charging me $2 for SALT. The jibarito by ITSELF was alone $15. No rice, no drink, shoot I didn’t even get napkins and some forks in the bag either.I understand inflation has caused many restaurants to increase prices but when I go to the city, it’s never this much. I realized I’m only having to pay this much because they’re the only “Puerto Rican” food near me & because they know they’re the only ones, they see it as a way of being able to upcharge. While the food was mediocre, the tostone was soggy and greasy. It wasn’t wrapped in aluminum foil or even placed ontop of parchment paper in the box. They just threw it all together and it was a sloppy soaked mess. Moral of my review: If you want Puerto Rican food, just go to the city. Don’t get up charged for food that wasn’t even made with care.

I ordered the steak Jibarito to go and was asked if I wanted a combo. I said yes. But wasn’t expecting to pay $6.50 just for some non-authentic puerto rican / no flavored mushy rice. Also it’s my understanding, a combo will come with a side and drink. Nope not here. But I would say that the steak Jibarito did have the flavor from the mayo and onions and the dash of garlic that is added on top of the plantain. I gave that sandwich a 7 out of 10. But all in general 3 stars of the experience.

The food was delicious! I ordered the jamon y queso Jibarito with arroz. I also tried some pastelitos de carne and their Jibarito sundae. It was good and reminds me of my Abuela's cooking! Both sides of my family are from Puerto Rico and my dad was born in Naguabo Puerto Rico, so it's nice to see a Puerto Rican restaurant in the neighborhood. Bendicones! Isabel Mendez ? Gracias Mi Gente!

Went here after passing by a few times on long commute. I love plantains, so was intrigued by concept of using them as bread in Cuban sandwich. It was quite good, but I was told I should order the item at top of menu. Next time. The guy behind counter was very friendly to this first timer and gave me extra Puerto Rican soda. Very good.

I was taken aback by the owners kindness. She showed compassion on what was for me a difficult day. I also was happy to find a Puerto Rican restaurant not too far from me. We enjoyed our jibaritos and jibarito bowl ?

I wanted to try this place for quite sometime. I finally did and I wouldn't say it wasn't good... but it lacked flavor. I love to taste what I am eating and I really wished it had more flavor. The staff was great. The restaurant decor is simple and cute and the desserts are delicious!

Delicious Cuban sandwich on a plantain "bun". Very flavorful. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant was clean but could use a refresh style wise.

It's gets me excited to see a Puerto Rican restaurant nearby. We tried a sandwich and a Jibarito. We chose the rice as one of the choices. The rice was nowhere near as authentic "arroz con gandules". What authentic Puerto Rican restaurant uses chocolate on their menu ? What the hell is a jibarito bowl ? Does this restaurant got the inspiration from Chipole ? This restaurant needs photos of the beautiful sceneries of my beautiful island on their walls to even look like a Puerto Rican restaurant. A little piece of advice---- brand your bags and food containers with the restaurant name and logo. Throw in menu too. Learn from Chinese restaurants. They perfected everything.

Adding onto my review from last year, which was in my drafts, the Jibarito Bowls have gotten bigger! Same great tasting meal! (my first draft) Jibaritos are a unique Chicago gem cuisine - definitely a must try! Had Jibaritos in the Maywood as well as Humboldt Park areas. Happy to know there are restaurants serving Jibaritos in Chicago's northwest suburbs too! Huge portion of this to-go order Jibarito Steak Bowl. Taste did not disappoint! Ordered a side of Tostones as well. Garlic is just right! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Very polite over the phone and in person. I highly recommend not only for the customer service but also the menu selection. I try something new all the time. I'm never disappointed! The pork jibarito, or any pressed sandwich, FIRE!

Amazing food! I ordered a mofongo with pork and it arrived wrapped up and warm!!! It was delicious! Flavorful. They delivered the food in a timely manner, good amount, and the flavors were authentic PR! Recommend 100%.

Delicious. My brain can't comprehend how their chicken is so moist?!?! Definitely recommend eating the plantain sandwich right away to enjoy the crispy texture.
