Amazing and delicious food at a great price with nonstop super helpful service. This place has everything. Go and you won't be disappointed! If you're not familiar, ask for recommendations, the staff were super helpful and forthcoming. Definitely get appetizers to share, Bulgarian beer, and the platter of various meats! You can't go wrong! The blueberry jam for the potato biscuits was my favorite. The grilled calamari was really good too!

Visiting Chicagoland and wanting to try Bulgarian food, we came here, and are so glad we did. The menu is huge, so we asked our waiter Ivo for suggestions. He asked us what we like and came through with great ideas. From the Bulgarian beer, to the fried cheese with jam starter, to the combo grill and ending with the fig cake, everything was excellent. Just an all around fantastic experience.

Starting with the ambiance of the restaurant, I felt like I was in Bulgaria already. The Bulgarian radio, the decor, the rakiya, the people— I thought I was back home. The food was very authentic and delicious. We ordered the mixed grill and its definitely enough for 2 people it was very large portions. It’s best to order it with the spicy baked goat cheese! The homemade cake they have is nostalgic and it’s something my grandmother would make for us as kids. Everything to the last detail was authentic and the owner was so kind to us. It felt like all of us were family already. I would definitely come here again. Best restaurant in Chicago! ??

Deliciously on point. They actually pay attention to you when you walk in, not like in bulgary. There wasn't anybody smoking inside either. Lmao. I was hungry from fishing all day, your going to have to take my word.

Mehanata was absolutely amazing! The mixed grill was perfect. You can tell everything is made with so much love. The ambiance is so cozy and traditional. It feels like you teleported to Bulgaria and you feel right at home. And, the service is exceptional. The entire staff and our server, Ivo, made our experience unforgettable.
