What a fun place. It was our first time eating Bulgarian food but we were impressed with what we ate. The waiter's suggestions were very good and the food was delicious and very filling.

There are about 20k Bulgarians live in Chicago, the largest group of Bulgarians outside Bulgaria, a country with a population of 6.5 million, at a crossroads of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, communism and capitalism. Des Plaines is the area of Bulgarian, like China Town for Chinese. The dishes and decor in the restaurant are really authentic, according to my Bulgarian friend. Love to taste the foods that Americans wouldn't put on the menu.

Came here twice during our trip to Chicago! The mixed spread appetizer was so good: 4 scoops of delish spreads with some similar to hummus and tzatziki (more solid). The plate comes with pita style bread. The beef skewers and lamb/chicken soup were also very good. Outstanding service and atmosphere. We also liked the mish mash, cured sliced meats, and plate of assorted cooked meats. Coming back for sure! PS don’t skip dessert.

Wow what a gem i unexpectedly found this place and not even knowing anything about Bulgarian food had a exceptional experience from the time my family entered everyone working there was so nice especially one gentleman I wish I got his name but he offered suggestions and explained the menu to us and came by several times to check on us even though we had a great lady server so hospitality was amazing and then the food was so good we wish we could have tried more menu items but were so full all the portions were amazing and we had leftovers to take home too so my family is already planning our next trip back as we live about 40 minutes away to try different menu items

Very nice place.Have to try it!Traditional BG kitchen and very good service!
This restaurant was recommended by family, and it did not disappoint. It was a little hard to find you'll drive right past it if you do not keep an eye out. It's right next to a Foremost liquors store. The inside of the restaurant was decorated with a rustic Bulgarian theme. That's what I figure, at least. The service was great. The waiters were helpful, quick, and did not make any mistakes. The food was tasty, very well seasoned. The restaurant serves Bulgarian grilled meats. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because it was a little greasier than I liked. Other than that, I thought the food was great! Each plate was around 15 to 25 dollars, but they were hefty. I could have easily shared an entree with my wife.We tried the homemade Bulgarian cake, it's not as sweet as what we are used to but was tasty none the less. All in all, I'd stop in again to try something different.
