Thank you for your restaurant concept, we will truly miss you. A bright spot in the area—now will spend our $$$$ in St. Charles, Geneva, Evanston and the city. We will miss the staff and management immensely. Good luck to each of you as you embark on new journeys. We hope that we will see many of you again.
We had a lovely evening. Veronica was so personable. The drinks, meal & desserts were delicious. Sad to see a fine dining restaurant closing its doors. We spent many holidays & have so many wonderful memories at the Anvil Club.
Been going here for decades. I understand the restaurant is closing, but their menu was very restricted - few options to pick from. There was a Scallop Special that my husband and I both wanted. Our server was so slow to take and deliver orders, she didn't take our dinner order until we were there for over an hour. By then, they sold out of the Scallop Special - which is ridiculous because leftover scallops can be frozen easily. Instead, I got their steak and fries special. The steak was about 1/4" thick...pretty much a joke. We were looking forward to having a wonderful last meal at the Anvil Club before they close in another week, but this experience was pretty bad and is not what I was expecting from a place that had been excellent for many years. Sadly, not worth the time or the money this trip.
The company was great. The food and drinks were outstanding as usual. The service is 2nd to none. The band was great. The only thing is this experience will be sorely missed in a week.
This was my first time there with friends and family! I loved the beautiful ? decor, it brought me back to the older movies I love to watch. Their food was so delicious, loved my drinks ? and the service definitely ? over the top! Had a great bartender Jason, our server Veronica was totally amazing ? lady! So much fun with our party of 5 and those two! I'm so sorry ? they are closing and feel so awful for not going sooner. I'll be back the last Thursday of the month to say goodbye! One last time! Thank you for great service!
We were a bit disappointed with our 2nd visit to The Anvil Club. They have an obvious increase in bookings, we had difficulty getting a reservation, this being their last month. Prices have increased, from what they were in June. Service was slow, too many parties for our server? Two hours, with gaps of 30 minutes.
I should have mentioned when I made the reservation that I'd like the Saddle Room. The large room we were in was fine, but not where I wanted to be. My Steak Diane was wonderful. I'm not a rice lover, so the wild rice seemed dry to me. Also, the tomato with spinach was lacking in taste. The onion soup was delicious. Our server was very good and professional. The table clearing young lady was lovely.
The anvil club is a great place to me.My memories are all good with my family. My parents were members for many years.Best food around great service. Miss the Filipino waiters who lived on site.Madesto a preparer for the club in the 80s was a friend of mine. All great memories. Thank you anvil club.
Veronica was our server and she was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable about the menu, and was quite professional as well. She had a very friendly demeanor and made the experience at The Anvil Club nothing short of stellar!! Looking forward to my final visit to the Anvil Club before they close. I am absolutely heartbroken that the Anvil Club will soon become a distant memory. I have been enjoying the club for years!
Previously a private club, we never knew that it had opened to the public. In beautifully-restored historic building. Staff took us down below to view the wine lockers - a new concept to us. Service was impeccable. Our waitress had been there 15 years. Homemade rolls we're piping hot. Our dinners were all delicious as was the enormous slice of white chocolate mousse cake that four of us split and still couldn't finish. Beautiful outdoor seating in courtyard area as well. We'll be back soon!

Do not sell this restaurant. The head Chef is amazing. The best dinners we've ever had. Went there twice this weekend. Scallops , Chilean sea bass, prime rib , lamb chops, drunken steak, whiskey sours, the best anyone could have hoped for.
This was our last visit to the Anvil Club as it is closing. Breaks my heart. Very sad to hear the bar will be torn out as it is over 100 years old from the Oriental Theatre in Chicago. Wonder how many other treasures will be lost. Service was outstanding. Another treasured restaurant bites the dust!!!!!
The Anvil Club is a very nice operation that used to be a private club but since the lockdown has gone more public. While they still have private wine lockers for members in the basement this location is a nice relaxing romantic place for dinner and more. We had a very nice wedding rehearsal dinner here for 12 to 15 people in one of their connecting rooms. They also had a very nice live music piano player. One suggestion most frequent diners to any location with live music will know is make requests for music after people get their food that way there's less loud talking and more ability to hear the music I would recommend trying this out if only for drinks but the food is really good as the service.
Food and service remain excellent even though they're closing at the end of next month. Too bad. Once we became aware of the Anvil Club, it's been a regular place for us to dine. Being replaced by a Mexican restaurant - as if we need another one of those in the area.
We hadn't been here for many years. We were so happy to know it was open to anyone. Shortly after I made the reservation, I learned it would soon be closing for good. Our server was a delight and the food was great! It's too bad that such a lovely place won't be here much longer after so many years.
